The problem is that he's a bitter hypocrite. If McCloskey's name was mentioned anywhere near a big fight again, you bet he'd talk up his chances of winning. Khan, like any other fighter would do anything for a shot at the cash cow and p4p king. I agree that Khan probably needs a big win before a Mayweather fight, but McCloskey saying the fight is a joke is worthy of criticism. He should concentrate on trying to salvage what's left of his career instead of focusing on a guy who has bettered his every achievement and then some.

in comparable talent, it is a joke.

Khan-McCloskey I agree.

It would be a joke if Mayweather was to fight Amir Khan and thus I can see it happening a year from now. Khan doesn't deserve the fight and Mayweather doesn't deserve another easy pay day. I can see most of these final 5 fights being relative gimme's like Guerrero.

It's funny because it's McCloskey saying it, but it doesn't make it any less true. For whatever it's worth, McCloskey isn't saying "it should be me", which is the usual follow-up to comments like McCloskey made. McCloskey knows he ain't shit. But he might feel some resentment toward Khan and this is his way of getting it out. So two things: McCloskey sounds like a bitter fool, and Khan really isn't deserving of a shot at Mayweather at this time.
Re: Paul McCloskey is saying it is a joke if Khan gets a Mayweather fight
From a legacy viewpoint, the fight does nothing for Floyd's legacy. From a risk/reward viewpoint, it couldn't be better for Floyd.

The truth is the truth, no matter who's mouth it comes out of IMO

Jeez I don't know if I agree with that. Chinny or not, Khan is a fantastic boxing talent with the skill and speed to potentially be a handful for Floyd.
On the reward part, what does Floyd really gain? He's beating a 140lber who got brutally beaten less than a year ago. I realize he'll make a lot of money off of it, but I think at this point in his career Floyd can make a lot of money fighting just about anyone.
Re: Paul McCloskey is saying it is a joke if Khan gets a Mayweather fight
This is a smart move for Floyd. His fans will get to see him knock Khan down or perhaps knock him out, something he hasn't done lately. I like Khan, he is fun to watch but I don't think watching him fight Floyd will be that much fun
Re: Paul McCloskey is saying it is a joke if Khan gets a Mayweather fight
Khan might see his point under all the noise. Lets face it, just because hes cashing a massive check a guy can only be ko'd so many times before the gig is up. Khan might as well wear a massive red bow on his head and jump out of a box tossing gold coins when he is introduced..pre hammering.

Khan-Mayweather - joke.
I don't wish to see Khan cash in but I do want to see him knocked out again ;D

You really need to get off the fence when it comes to Amir Khan and let us know how you really feel, because I just can't read between the lines on your cryptic opinion.

Come on, @Beanflicker . Just once, let's agree on this. ;D
Amir Khan will pose exactly 0 danger for Floyd Mayweather. A guy who goes life and death with Julio Diaz poses no danger for Floyd Mayweather. Same with Guerrero, a guy who went life and death with Gamaliel Diaz and Orlando Salido, just isn't going to be a challenge for Floyd Mayweather. It doesn't matter if he has the fastest hands in the business, or is the toughest. Their flaws are too great for a master technician.
Amir Khan is a great fight for Floyd for exactly those reasons. Showtime's footing the bill. Why wouldn't he face one easy fight after another?
Again, this is nothing against Amir Khan. He's a great talent. It's just at the end of the day, for some reason, it doesn't all come together to make a guy who will give Floyd Mayweather problems.
In any event, wasn't the Lucas Matthysse/Lamont Peterson winner supposed to fight Danny Garcia, and the winner of that against Amir Khan?
Re: Paul McCloskey is saying it is a joke if Khan gets a Mayweather fight
I've got to disagree. Styles make fights and Amir has the speedster style that can be tricky for Mayweather.
A guy like Guerrero is tailor made for Mayweather's style because he's slow and doesn't really give Floyd a whole lot to process. Khan's hand speed, footspeed and jab would force Floyd out of his comfort zone and have him on his toes and thinking (same reason Pacquaio would have been an interesting matchup for Floyd).
I think Khan has much more of a chance to beat Mayweather than guys like Bradley, Garcia, Matthyse, and most of the other potential Floyd matchups.
