Re: The Hater Thread: you can "come clean" here!
Yup Khan getting beat was great. Those little dances he did in the ring were so pretentious, I wish points were taken away for the guys who make them look completely ridiculous.
Chavez losing to Martinez then you had the announcers saying it was the best 12th round of boxing we will ever see, almost choked on my popcorn. It was kind of funny watching Chavez Sr. Almost have a heart attack thinking Martinez wasn't going to get up, it was great seeing Sr. Lose in that regard as well. It was like two for one, a beautiful thing, damn, I am going to go watch that again right now.

? I think you may be getting him mixed up. Unless you mean after he has been clocked.
Re: The Hater Thread: you can "come clean" here!
I never had much time for Camacho Snr, until the day he knocked down Ray Leonard with a jab.
The enjoyment I got out of that fight more than made up for the decade+ of hate I had for Leonard.
Re: The Hater Thread: you can "come clean" here!
I noticed a trend, the pure boxers generally get a lot of flack and the brawlers are usually well loved.

Its an entertainment business. People pay to watch to be entertained not bored to death.;D
Re: The Hater Thread: you can "come clean" here!
But thats assuming everyone's entertained the same way, some people watch hockey just for the fights. some watch MMA for the pounding and the strikes while other for the submissions and ground control. Same applies in boxing.
Even if we can get a baseline for a "boring" boxer it still wouldn't explain the hatred that some get.

I think because unless you have boxed people can more easily identify with brawlers. They watch and think, I may not know what I was doing but if push came to shove and I ended up in a ring then at least I could do that and give it my all.

Alright ill say it...I jumped hooted and hollered for joy watching Miguel Cotto get beaten into submission by Margarito in their first fight. I have to admit that has been the most satisfying victory for me to watch.
Obviously this was a short lived victory and was followed by disillusion and disgust when he was found out cheating and got destroyed by Mosley.
But we'll always have the first ;D

I loved the first fight too. I thought Margarito beating Cotto was great, although I had no hate towards Cotto. Margarito was one of my favorite fighters at the time.
After the Mosley incident it was a full turn around and Cotto then beating Margarito has to be my pick.
Amazing what a few years and loaded goves can do to change a guys opinion.:)
By the way I don't know why I inserted a happy face as I am far too old for emotations.
Re: The Hater Thread: you can "come clean" here!
marga cheato sucks for what he did, but I did enjoy the 1st fight where he beat Cotto. but just for a moment or 2 until the bad news came out.
see marquez knock pac cold was also a really great moment for me.
Re: The Hater Thread: you can "come clean" here!
Showtime replayed an old Kirkland v. Conyers this evening. Kirkland destroyed Conyers but I really can't stand Kirklands corner. It isn't a sexism thing, I just find her and the rest of them to be nasty.

Let's start by saying I agree on the MAB-Hamed fight. I was always a MAB fan... and I couldn't think of a better thrashing than the one he handed to Hamed, flying carpet and all.
You liked ODLH-Vargas. I liked what Trinidad did to Vargas BEFORE De La Hoya got to him.
It's a little like when you tenderize meat BEFORE you put it on the plate and eat it... and then you marvel at how soft and tender it is.
Shane Mosley's destruction of Margarito is another personal favorite. First he gets exposed as a lowdown cheater.... THEN he gets the ever-living SHIT beat out of him. Double humiliation in one night. Couldn't happen to a more deserving fella.
Pac-ODLH. Ah yes. The carefully selected, smaller scalp that DLH was to put on his belt before retirement. Only problem is he picked a live wire. 440 volts.... and only ready for regular household 110. Tsk-tsk. Nothing against Oscar. But whenever someone brings up quitting in the ring..... I always counter with Oscar on his stool.
Pac-Hatton. Yes... Hatton's a likable guy and a regular bloke. But his talk of fighting for the world's p4p got under my skin. P4p my ass. Fortunately for the world's karma... Pac put a definite punctuation mark on that erroneous assumption.
Tszyu-Judah. That was back when I disliked Judah for his punkish attitude and ghetto ring walk strutting. Then came the fight, and a new dance. He's lucky Jay Nady remained calm. Two knockdowns in one night would've been really sad. I've taken a liking to Judah since then, however.
Shame on me for forgetting one very important one.
Tyson-Holmes. Ahhhhhhh..... Seeing that whiny, man-titted jerk nearly decapitated by Tyson is among my fondest memories.

i actually felt very bad seeing that fight live on PPV in January 1988. Remember it well. The poor old man. But then again he deserved it the blabber-mouth. Only trained 4 weeks for the fight---how the fuck is that anybody's fault but his own?
