If you mean "on the road" fairly literally, then you should take a road trip out to the west of the usa. Go up and down the west coast, and go to the big national parks: Glacier, Yosemite, Mt. Rainier, Zion, Bryce, Arches, and the Grand Canyon. You can camp the whole way.
