Cut to Shredz - Chun Li's Thunderous Thighs Megamix -JULY 2013 by Tough Pigeon Records | Mixcloud
Attachment 2882
Tough Pigeon Records proudly present UK Producer/DJ 'Cut to Shredz' mixcloud debut - "Chun Li's Thunderous Thighs". Starring the generously muscled thighs of Street Fighter's fighting firestorm, 'Chun Li', with guest appearances from Monty Pythons John Cleese, a cough from Malcom Muggeridge and some words of wisdom from Professor Richard Dawkins. New and classic Hip Hop, Funk and Roots and beats sit side by side in a classic old skool style for ageing and youthful B Boys and Girls everywhere. Inspired by the timeless London Funk Allstars track "Chun Li vs Wah Wah Man" the mix includes plenty of UK Hip Hop stalwarts like Mark B and Rodney P but also some brand new offerings from the likes of Candisci (U.S) and Englands clever M.C Ty. There is room for 8 million words a minute Abdominable and more esoteric instrumentals from Fingathing and TM Duke. The game flavour is there throughout but the rules are open and operating over many levels.
For me Hip Hop is the ultimate post modern musical form of expression. From it's origins in Ragga dance halls through breakdancing, plunderphonics and turntablist culture it has always been about reinterpretation. DJ's and MC's practising for hours in order to be able to improvise and react to a crowded warehouse or party. It belongs to the world and attempts to make it a corporate homogenised product kind of misses the point. I don't have a top ten of Hip Hop Artists just like I would find it hard to pick just 10 Punk Bands or 10 of anything but here are 10 you may or may not have heard before
