QT probably was also inspired by Stanley Kubrick's The Killing starring Sterling Hayden (non-chronological storytelling about a racetrack heist). Where The Killing is different than RD, was that TK followed each character from beginning to end and then going on to the next character from beginning to end and repeat.
QT takes from everything it seems haha. I think Mystery Train was also a big influence on his work (especially for Pulp Fiction).
