Re: C J ROSS defends her scoring
I gave Canelo 2 rounds. Canelo did land a few punches while he was following Floyd along the ropes. Floyd controlled the fight just like he always does. It was an easy fight to judge. Canelo was right on with his comment about not being able to find Floyd--an understatement.
C J Ross is a bad judge or corrupt, either way she should not be judging fights, any fights. She can't be trusted, in my opinion.
Did anyone else notice that Canelo seemed to be targeting Floyd's left shoulder and arm. If you see that fight again--it was boring as hell-- take a look. Let me know if I was day dreaming.

He was either targeting the arm or unsuccessfully trying to get Floyd to raise his elbow and hit his body.
Re: C J ROSS defends her scoring
Canelo looked bewildered and lost by round 3, he showed no indication what so ever that he could land anything substantial and change the course of this fight, the fight was a shut out and one of the most one sided title fights i have witnessed since Camacho V Chavez and Camacho V DLH.
Where Ross thinks Canelo was effective anywhere is beyond my understanding of how boxing works.
Las Vegas is the betting capital of the world and what were the odds of a majority decision?

I scored it 117-111 for Floyd because of his clean accurate punching, but I think the commentators were very biased in favor of Floyd and he didn't really "dominate".
the stream I watched was in french and I had no fucking clue what they were saying....I had the fight 11 rounds to 1 or 119-109 for Floyd, it was an easy fight to score, Canelo did nothing effectively and Floyd was still hitting him with shots while backing away, so there goes that theory
..judging a fight is the same in any mans language..

the reason I mentioned the language of the stream (which I thought was pretty damn clear) was because Freedom is trying to insinuate that the commentary on Showtime made the fight seem more lopsided than it was, which is pure bullshit, a shut out is obvious with or without recognizable commentary
Re: C J ROSS defends her scoring
That was one of Floyd's most convincing wins and I don't think it was because at 36 he is suddenly discovering the fountain of youth. It is everything to do with a lazy opponent who cannot fight in more than spurts and was handpicked. Mayweather drained a man with a flimsy record and a track record of not pushing opponents hard for the duration of a fight.
It was sealed from the off. Honestly, at times it was like Mayweather/Baldomir. The way Canelo backed off a couple of times like his heart wasn't in it was embarrassing. You are earning millions and you want to take off half the fight and back off occasionally because the effort is too much? The blueprints are there on how to hassle Floyd and he went in there and tried to box and counter for 6 rounds! It is outrageous.
I will take a million Hatton like performances over that any day of the week. Hatton might have got stopped, but he tried, tried and tried. Really it was that point deduction that made him kamikaze, but like a kamikaze pilot, there was no restraint or quit in Hatton.
Canelo on the other hand is supposedly a bully, but was nothing of the sort. At least Mosley had the excuse of age and being washed up, but Mosley made a bigger dent than Alvarez.
Re: C J ROSS defends her scoring
So...because the most in demand fight out there happened to be a good one stylistically for Floyd, it is a handpicked opponent. Utter crock. Who else should he have fought, Golovkin at 160?? He has fairly slow feet and stands upright to, if Floyd managed to pull that off would it be further cherry picking:rolleyes:
Re: C J ROSS defends her scoring
I could see giving the 11th and 12th to Canelo just by default. PBF ran. I think I recall seeing one round of the first 6 close enough to justify a nod. I can't imagine where I'd get the other 3 though.

Exactly. Floyd haters will never be satisfied. Maybe he needs to go to heavyweight and beat a Klitschko.
Re: C J ROSS defends her scoring
I don't think saying Floyd handpicked his opponent is always derogatory. Floyd spoke openly of it in the all access show Showtime was doing. A number of us here said Canelo would look like a punk against Floyd and Floyd knew that five years ago. Still, people wanted to see Canelo fight Floyd so it worked well for him. Hand picking opponents is nothing new to boxing but some champs want to go out of their way to fight tough competition to further enhance their dominance. Floyd does not do that.

I should give you negative reputation just for daring to not speaking French.
Back to the topic:
119 – 109 it’s a fair score.
117 – 111 it’s not outrageous but it is very generous toward Canelo
116 – 112 it’s borderline incompetent.
114 - 114 a blind man (or a blind women) who score the fight by the sound of the crowd.

As if you don't spread enough in Canada for doing so, you ingrate;D I should neg rep you for having to search twice as hard when I want to know the ingredients in my cereal!
Seriously though good post and Montreal is easily the best city in this country;)
Re: C J ROSS defends her scoring
I rewatched this fight, I gave Canelo rounds 2,3,4, 6 and 12. With round 1 even.
115 to 114 Mayweather. The fight was closer than what the judges had it. Floyd still won, but we have to be careful how we give Floyd these rounds he doesn't deserve.
Sure, he looks poised- but Floyd lands 2 to 3 good shots a round at this stage. And for half of the round he's running and dodging....
