He's never pointed out any bad personal traits in other boxers either. ;D

Lyle you need to take the rose tinted glasses off Bud, he was truly terrible holding hitting
it was like watch the second coming, Hopkins I no you think the Klits are the dogs bollocks,!
No wonder HW boxing is shit, about as entertaining as a sick-bag, the sooner they retire the
better.:(

He does not have to be a role model but let's not pretend that he is.
Once again, I'll say that excessive holding in an occasional fight is a minor offense compared to the standard behaviour we've seen from other boxers.
If Wlad can't be a role model, I'd be interested in hearing who you think is a role model in boxing?

Agree Joshuas holding and hitting was filthy. Ill give him the benefit of the doubt that it was his debut.
Calling a foul is up to the discretion of a referee. If he's not calling it then it's not happening.
I think one of the reasons the holding Wlad was doing wasn't called is that it isn't a kind of foul that further endangers the life of a fighter. It's not like a rabbit punch, a low blow, headbutt, or following through with an elbow.
I don't fault Joshua for holding and hitting at all...when you want to do damage to someone you'll ATTEMPT anything, he corrected himself after the warning.

Simple, really.
- Those who are constantly ragging on Wlad for everything he does.... AND bitched about the fight..... are haters.
- Those who have given Wlad his just due over the years..... BUT bitched about the fight..... are NOT haters.
- Those who can see no wrong in anything Wlad does.... EVER.... and saw nothing wrong with the fight...... have serious blinders on.
Me.... I was firmly in the first group, but was working my way toward the 2nd group.
Verdict?
Yeah..... well, nobody's perfect. ;)
Re: At least the "Wlad Klitschko is a good role model" myth has bit the dust
Hindsight is truly 20/20.
I have actually re-watched the thing 3 more times and then searched for a clinic dealing in masochism in the yellow pages. Just an ugly ass fight. I even slowed it down to a crawl and then singled out each man.
So now I’m going to have to retract a good portion of my criticism of Wlad and dish it out to Povetkin. He’s as much responsible for that mess as Wlad is. He was trying to come in under the jab bent over and then lifting up the back of his head. Like using his head as a counter if he missed the inside hook. He used his head much like Holyfield in that regard. Much of Wlads grabbing was a direct result of that tactic and the fact that he can’t fight off the back foot.
I’ve taken some cheap shots at Wlad by comparing him to the likes of Willard and Carnera and that’s also unfair. He would destroy both of those clowns. Frustration I suppose over a lame division that once was a historical main stay. Lamenting I guess past eras that I grew up on.

Re: At least the "Wlad Klitschko is a good role model" myth has bit the dust
I am still stunned that people are still defending him after Saturday night
people are saying lots of boxers break the rules
this is true, but the worst rule breaking in history is only a fraction of the rule breaking that was seen on Saturday night
that is excluding wlads other fights of course

That is on top of the krap that he and his brother pull in paying their opponents derisory sums etc. Vitali is nowhere near as smug as Wlad but the pair are pretty insufferable and fast destroying the glamour division.
He is a great ambassador for the sport everywhere but in the ring. And to be fair, this past weekend was the worst I have ever seen him.
Re: At least the "Wlad Klitschko is a good role model" myth has bit the dust
Wait, Adonis Stevenson was a pimp?
