Re: Prime Nigel Benn vs Prime Joe Calzaghe
I think Benn improved no end in the early 90s, and I am sure he would of given Calzaghe plenty to think about, but in the end I believe Joe would have edged it over 12 rounds.

Jones may have won once against SRR, but there is no way SSR could not have adjusted and defeated him in ANY amount rematches afterwards

To be fair SRR was a welterweight, probably the best ever so to be considered a middleweight great just shows you how great he was.

At this level of competition weight does not mean much, I have no doubt SSR would beat Roy Jones in 15 rounds in any weight, especially if you let Jones eat like SSR ate in 40-60's without any modern day steroids. There is simply no discussion here. On top of that, I think even SRL would beat Roy, because SRL was just slicker and mentally tougher, he would fool him

Calzaghe W12 Benn unanimously.
Thought 2nd close, but Benn won it. Likewise if 40 year old Hopkins, Jones and a Mitchell are dropping him with single shots I'd wager that he would be in far worse shape when Benn managed to do so.
Joe mixed when he shouldn't and Benn was boxing better at 168. I just don't see all the schooling thought by the many.

Personally, by schooling I do not mean badly beaten
Benn might drop Joe once, but Joe would adjust and out box him
Benn was always too one dimensional
Re: Prime Nigel Benn vs Prime Joe Calzaghe
Your face is to one dimensional!

Robinson got beat 5 times at middleweight, Roy, Marvin, Monzon and maybe B Hop would have done the same.
As for Leonard at middleweight, he was not great.

You did not get my point. My point was they might have one time success, but SRR would adjust by the rematch and win any amount of fights afterwards
Please, do not add B Hop here, he does not belong to this level

I got your point but did you get mine, he was not as great a middleweight as he was welterweight and he lost to inferior fighters so could adjust and win but not against the great fighters I mentioned.

I ahve to admit I do not know the facts well, I study and comeback after a while
Re: Prime Nigel Benn vs Prime Joe Calzaghe
The facts are Joe got dropped, but got up to win and regardless what people say he WAS
NEVER OUT BOXED by any one. He was a master boxer yes he could have a off night,! but
all great fighters never look great all the time.
A great fighter and Champion, beam me up Scotty I've had enough BS.:vd:
