I love Maidana and ON PAPER this fight makes a lot of sense.
But like most of you I'm not really excited about it because we've seen Floyd defeat Maidana's style over a dozen times already.

Cant see it happening.
Khan generates alot more money.
Either way, the card has to be like garcia/mattyhse..
I'd rather see Mayweather vs Thurman
At least Khan-Broner is intriguing..
Maidana is a bum compared to Floyd. What a shit fight. He gonna get dogged out like Gatti.
I find it hilarious how people are trying to make Khan out to be a big PPV draw. Get the hell outta here. Khan ain't Ricky Hatton. This is going to be a Cinco De Mayo Fight...and while Maidana is Argentinian...Mexican fight fans will back him. Who cares if Floyd has fought that style before. Maidana is more deserving of the fight. Maidana got more recognition out of the Broner fight and i think a lot of people are under selling him in terms of PPV buys. The backlash against the Floyd/Khan fight doesn't fall on deaf ears. If they can pull off this card...they could make the money and the fighters that DESERVE to fight each other would. Floyd against a guy that is on a hot streak. And Broner vs. Khan are two fighters looking for redemption and momentum. Make it happen!
This card doesn't seem like it was designed by matchmakers and promoters. With the Mares fight added on consider all the target demographics. It feels corporate. I'm almost bothered by the brilliance like the proposed card is so smart it must be a con.
If true its an interesting development and kind if makes sense and cents.Arums HBO card is starting to look pretty dam good. I can see Al Haymon pulling this off. After the hype Broner cant toil in some obscure comeback fight. Outside of Floyds personal poll it seems pretty clear that the majority of the public wants Maidana. Broner has a rematch clause with Maidana but Khan does not deserve the fight so the star Floyd beats up his little brothers conqueror and Khan is told that if he beats Broner he gets the Floyd fight. Floyd is not going to fight Broner so once Floyd dispatches Maidana and Broner has a huge comeback knocking out Khan, he will be in the drivers seat again for the rematch with Maidana having knocked out the man that beat him. Brilliant really.
If I was Broner I'd be insisting on a rematch first, get some redemption, or try at least. How fooking silly is he going to look waiving pom poms, peeking over his shoulder as Mayweather absolutly toys with the man who just knocked him around like a back alley drunk. I don't get it.
I don't think Broner gives two spits about how things really are, I think he only cares about perception with the people he'll speak to and how much he's paid. He can continue to push the "off night" angle while talking about how he demanded an immediate rematch. His yes men will eat it up. Floyd won't pay the sanctioning fees so the belt will be available. It gives GBP so many different options with Maidana, Thurman, Khan, Broner, Porter. It gives the Broner/Khan winner a bunch of options. Basically the entire card sells to one demographic or another while really meaning nothing and every possible outcome makes money except a Floyd loss which is a near certainty not to happen. It's the new Coke card, you have to try it so it sells quick but really it just sells Coke Classic in the long run.
I imagine that Floyd sees it like this:
"Since the fans don't see Khan as worthy challenger, I'ma give Kahn a shot at my impersonator and also seeing as Maidana put in the work against my impersonator, let's see what he can do against the real deal."
It's a bit like some A team, B team business.
A few points to take notice of:
-a cinco De mayo fight where neither khan or maidana is Mexican. So packing the undercard with as many Mexicans or Mexican Americans as possible for marketing purposes makes sense.
-the obvious feeling That khan is not worthy means, as someone else inter out, they're going to have to put a shine on him before people would buy him as a threat. In steps a rebounding broner who also Is need of hype.
- the consensus says they want to see maidana in a rematch with broner as who can get enough of broner being humiliated. problem is maidana repeating his beating of broner twice in a row turns the lights out on broners career and cuts GBP money short once Floyd hangs them up.
-both fights get more competitive as maidana is billed as a tough fighter who's power plays the equilizer. And khan/broner gets billed as a crossroads fight. Advancing the mayweather train closer to end of the line. If khan beats broner, he has set some hype up for a mayweather fight and the most obnoxious press tour in history and more of an option/ bargaining power for mayweather against a pacquiao negotiation. If broner wins he's lined up for a pass the torch fight against mayweather.
- maidana saying he wouldn't be ready for the broner rematch but would push/force himself for mayweather makes it an easier fight Than it might have normally been. Irons still hot on maidanas hype and his body/mind is not rested.
Just something to chew on...
Richard schafer from golden boy has denied all of this.
Now im really annoyed as i really dont think khan deserves this fight at all...
He left a division like nathan cleverly and now gets the biggest payday of his life by beating two over the hill lightweights.
It is so so so wrong that bradley isnt fighting floyd and that part of boxing stinks!
