Links please!
Also you forgot to mention his wife's stellar record as well.
Cant remember the exact thread. Mack's trainer, John Tandy I think, and manager were posting on here at the time. It may be in the classic threads section.

Ingle, galzaghe and McCracken.

who does goosen train? i always liked him as a trainer
Chico corrales, michael nunn, Ruelas brothers, John Molina to name a few..
I really like the directness and the clarity of his voice in the corner.. ive never seen him get rattled or all emotional like some trainers. He just stays cool as he gives intructions.
Joe Goosen doesnt get enough recognition as a trainer when infact he's a lot better than the likes of garcia and nazzim.
Re: Best Trainer in the business- Top 3.
I maintain the the best trainers are the ones nobody knows. The dude in the east London, Toronto, LA gym. Lives above it. Does not even want to be famous. I find many of the trainers today in the limelight are more celebrity then trainer. Roach made Manny a two handed fighter but seriously who wouldn't have?
He made no adjustments in four fights with Marquez. Had very little advice in the corner. Many trainers today are mere opportunists. I mean seriously, Garcia training Donaire by phone at this level? What next a phone app?
Agbeko looked like an opponent against Rigo. Roger offered nothing to stem the tide. Telling ones supremely gifted nephew to "just keep doing what you are doing" does not a great trainer make.
I'm not saying there are no good trainers but I think many are extremely overrated.

Can't say that about the late Manny Steward r.I.p.

I think you often have to look behind the trainer to see where the real brains of the outfit lies.
Freddie Roach is the obvious perfect example. Manny goes on a tear and Freddie is trainer of the year, Manny gets put to sleep and Freddie isn't? The implication is Freddie didn't train as well that year, it's nonsense. Emmanuel Stewart became a great trainer when Tommy Hearns walked into his gym, Lennox Lewis goes to him and Manny is great again, then Wlad. The common denominator is great fighters making trainers. Dundee can teach you more from beyond the grave than Freddie Roach will. If a fighter clicks with a trainer he's a great trainer. Their job is to get the best out of the fighter, it's in the job description that the fighter decides "greatness". All the celebrity trainers are overrated. They use that celebrity to pick and choose fighters. If better fighters means better trainers in the eyes of the public, and we know it does, then they have an unfair advantage. The best trainers are amateur trainers. They can't choose the right fighters with the right styles and right temperaments. They get what they get and have to adapt themselves and the fighter. That's far far more impressive. As the pool of boxing participants shrinks the pool of great trainers shrinks, the eras of great trainers is gone. Probably never to return. There are good trainers out there with great fighters and people will make lists based on who had more great fighters.
Freddie Roach learned his craft from the best Mr Boxing Eddie Papa Smurf Futch & has carried on the flag successfully. He is in my opinion still the best active today alongside Nacho Beristein.
Lots of the great names have been mentioned like Angelo Dundee. Did you ever see what he said about Ali?? He said Ali didnt need him really Ali trained himself. Though Angelo admitted if he wanted Ali to do something he'd praise him for how well he did it LOL It worked

Re: Best Trainer in the business- Top 3.
Shingo Inoue. He might not train many fighters but what he has done with his kids is amazing.
Hiroake Nakade. Best known for his work with Katsunari Takayama.
Abel Sanchez or Ismael Salas.
