Re: What would a prime Margarito do to Maidana?
Margarito could get a job holding Maidana's jockstrap ;D

Pretty sure he or anyone could not "load" a workrate, same crazy angles and brick mortar chin :-X
Now this is a sensible answer and the correct one..
Too bad most people can not be objective when it comes to Margarito. SMH
lol @ Maidana having " more skills " and " more power " or whatever the hell that was said..
If instead of correct you meant to say this is a speculative answer like any of the other ones then yes sir your assertion would be correct as it is youre the one that is blind and can't seemingly be objective anything involving margo since apparently he was murderous volume puncher that destroyed people with ease without takin a shitton of punishment in return
Re: What would a prime Margarito do to Maidana?
Also when was margs prime, at 30 when mosley tooled the shiiiiit out of him?

How am I not being objective regarding Margo? I asked the guys in our fantasy baseball league the same question and they all agreed with me that Margo is too much for the smaller Maidana..
Many people are closed minded when it comes to Margarito and they refuse to acknowledge him for the fighter that he was..
No objective boxing fan is going to claim with a straight face that Maidana beats Margarito..

Not really because it's common sense that a fighter's prime isn't dictated by age.. It's about the mileage on the odometer..
Mentally and physically, Margarito's prime lasted about 3 years from 05-08...

Why not? I am claiming that he would, its all speculation and there is no way for you to prove me wrong. i dont see why maidana wouldnt be able to beat marg .people have mentioned maidanas durability like some sort of liability well i haven't seen him finished, good recuperative powers, so not like he'd be at a huge disadvantage there. maidana is slowish but hell i think marg is probably slower, punch for punch i do think maidana hits harder. marg had a granite chin but can be hurt, i really think the only think marg has on maidana is size so yeah i think maidana would grind out a decision , you can speculate that i am wrong but there is no correct answer to this question!

Funny how his career best performance ended his prime and was followed by the annihilation by Mosley ;D did Cotto ruin him
Re: What would a prime Margarito do to Maidana?
Lets be real, Margarito would destroy Maidana. A jr welter coming up and a jr middle going down. If Khan....KHAAAAAAAN (say that in Shatners voice ;D ), Soto Karass, Ortiz and muffin top Lopez are hurting and dropping Maidana...Margarito does it to another degree. Dude has a scarlet letter and can't escape it but just disliking him doesn't mean he didn't exist.

I saw that fight live at the Home Depot Center and it was hardly an ass whooping.. c'mon armin.. it was far from it..
Infact, Margarito started pouring it on in the championship rounds and fought close enough to a point where fans started questioning the decision.. Everybody at the fight was booing, throwing beer cans, and a riot nearly broke out as a result.
Ass whooped lol.. Williams didnt do shit that night..

Ha maybe i am going a bit far calling it an ass whopping, but to question that decision is far from sane either, there was nothing questionable about that fight nor was it hard to scor,e the rounds were pretty dam clear as to who they belonged.

Yes, it happens often in Boxing.. Even in victory, a fighter can lose alot physically..
Take Chavez-Taylor for instance.. Let's just pretend that Steele made the right call in favor of Taylor.. That was the best performance of his career yet he took so much punishment in that fight that he was never the same afterwards...
Margarito may have beaten Cotto but do you realize how many vicious shots he took for that victory?? He ate vicious combinations round after round but the only reason he won was because he was able to absorb the punishment while Cotto couldn't ..
So yea, Margarito may have won but he left alot inside the ring that night..
