Heavens, no. Not the great Chris Byrd. Byrd was the best TECHNICALLY GIFTED Heavyweight since Ali. Wlad pales in comparison to Byrd's skill and craftsmanship. And that's says a great deal. Byrd just didn't have the power at that weight- I don't think Byrd had the power at MW, but I digress.

If Wilder gets him against the ropes like that it's curtains.
He was against the ropes when he caught and stunned a normally thick chinned Arreola about 3 times between the onslaught. Being hit is a two way street and Arreola for all his faults at least had a proven chin and durability. Wilder hasn't come close to proven he can maintain an offense, or his balance, when dealing with sharp counters like that.

Wilder by KO...Berman is just too easy to find

against haye is my bet :S Maybe vitali will cash in his emeritus status to stop that happening though
Re: Bermane Stiverne vs. Deontay Wilder
I've seen Wilder KOed on spaghetti legs, and last night Stiverne took Arreola's best shots right on the button and came back.
35 year old Stiverne has proven himself by beating Arreola twice and beating Ray Austin.
28 year old Wilder has fantastic attributes, but he hasn't even come close to proving that he's even World-Class at all yet. Over 5 years as a pro, he should have fought some live ones by now, not debacles like that malik scott farce.
Right now, I'd go with the proven, battle-tested guy by KO.
I hope Wilder is for real, I hope he turns out to be elite, Heavyweight Boxing needs attraction like him.

Thanks for the sarcasm
Chris Byrd WAS a good heavyweight whether you want to admit it or not
Re: Bermane Stiverne vs. Deontay Wilder
Muhammad Ali was not technically gifted at all, just so ya know, son...
Ali is one of the Ring-Greats of history and Byrd isn't, but talking purely on the technical side, Chris Byrd was far better, and Byrd was a good Heavyweight.

Stop it, you're being way too level headed and logical ;D Its funny...whenever Wilder comes up I find myself going back over the shelf and rewatching his stuff, hoping to find these gems of promise and proof to support him being labeled a certainty to win, let alone look impressive, in his first significant breakout fight..hopefully to come soon btw. Tonight it was the fnf card Angulo vs Rosado and his trainer Mark Breland in studio. Saying he is 2 years away from fans seeing him at best and knowing he's for real etc. "Taking baby steps right now". That was 5 years ago..
on a completely random note rewatching Ishe Smith vs Jacobs I forgot Smith hurt him that bad in 5th. Yep its Sunday and bored solid ;D

Exactly and that's where Wilder is most at risk. Stiverne is going to land in between those loopers that start from the farm down the road and what many people don't seem to realize is that Stiverenes mongoose act is actually part of his schtick. He's got real confidence in his chin and is willing to take a good shot to land a good shot. He's much faster then most hevs and has a real good short shot inside game. I don't see Wilder as being all that difficult to shake up mentally in all the pre fight stuff. He could very well be as mentally weak as I think his chin is. He has not had to deal with any adversity during his spoon feeding. Ahhh but come see come saw. Haymon most likely wont allow him to go there.
Re: Bermane Stiverne vs. Deontay Wilder
Stiverne doesnt have the mobility to avoid Wilder's right hand.. he's too stationary..
Wilder knocks him out mid rounds. Id be surprised if it even gets that far.

Re: Bermane Stiverne vs. Deontay Wilder
Stiv aint losin' no time soon. He 's goin' for 2 years and retiring at 38, still Champ.
Wilder is indeed a Michael Grant. Stiv will smoke Wilder with the first short inside left hook of the fight.
Re: Bermane Stiverne vs. Deontay Wilder
The WBC has decided Stiverne must fight Wilder next.
If he gets past Wilder, which I doubt, he can take a voluntary defense or unify with Wladimir.
Re: Bermane Stiverne vs. Deontay Wilder
Wilder is a beast. IF you trade with him then you are probably going out.
Stiverne is accomplished at a higher level though and a good fighter. He could KO Wilder.
I'd figure the 6'7" monster would get there first tho.
