I thought for sure that he'd fake a limp if he got into serious trouble but they threw in the towel instead.
Re-read my last entry before this- I SAID COTTO CAME UP FOR THE FIGHT AND POUNCED ON HIM.
But, let us not diminish what knee problems can do to a fighter- sure, they fight with their hands, but if he can't move he can't move. Sergio was a sitting duck.
Even if he was 100% the fight was tough for him. Cotto does get credit for dispatching a lame duck in early fashion, the way he was supposed to.
If Cotto took the fight hard and couldn't finish him off the way he did, we would have questions about Cotto's ability.

What Cotto did last night is a million times better than what Golovkin managed in his last fight. Moving up amd in his first fight at the new weight he fights THE lineal world champ amd smashes him in to the canvas three times in the first round!
On the other hand, Golovkin looked like dog shit. You can only be judged n your last fight and judging by their last fights, if they are matched together in their next fights Golovkin gets his first loss by a smaller fighter because for once hed finally be fighting a world class fighter and ind out what its like to get hit back.

Age and injury wait for no man, Sergio came in for the pay day no more no less he was past his
sell by date, a good pay day and in boxing forget glory it's about the money.
If you think it's about glory your living in crown cuckoo land, boxing is about cool hard cash Sergio
came into the fight a crocked injured fighter, the money was to good.
Cotto is no middle weight, Canelo wins his next fight end of the year those 2 meet, large pay day
in a Hispanic slug fest.
Re: Never thought Martinez would've been this bad
Sergio should take on GGG or Quillen now. :)

I think he will retire.... if he got anywhere near 1.5 mil for the Cotto fight, you had better believe it is quitting time for Sergio.
Re: Never thought Martinez would've been this bad
Yup. I didn't even know the actual purses when I posted my last message. Cotto assured of 3 and guaranteed 7 mil, with Sergio guaranteed 1.5 mil plus ppv revenue- which may or may not have netted him an extra 300k or so.
I'd walk away... unless Floyd or someone else (doubt anyone can generate that kind of money for him) wants to fight me for 3 mil, then fuck it. lololol.... BYE!!!
