Trinidad used distance real well, he moved good. He'd give Quartey enough to get him really leaning into the jab, his weight up on his left foot. Then he'd slip it and hit Quartey with a hook, and he would hit him very hard because Ike's weight would be on his left foot and he'd have no where to go. If DLH and Lopez could hurt and drop Quartey, Trinidad could too, and he was a finisher. 4-5 rounds, maybe sooner. As soon as he got Ike committing to the jab, which is what Quartey wanted to do anyway, Felix would nail him and the fight would be over.

As good and analytical a description as I've seen. Although Trinidad is my fav fighter of all time, I was always a Quartey fan as well. I think it would've been a tremendous, action-filled fight.

I think Alberto Cortes hurt him worse than Stevens did. He was damn lucky that took place at the end of the round

Damn dude, that's a great call! Dinged him bad right off the front of the forehead. I bet Stephens still kicks himself for assuming the ref was going to do his job and regrets turning away and walking to neutral corner in 3rd. Tito was fubar.

Stephens was a good fighter. He was like a poor mans Oba Carr. He would never beat an elite guy, but he would give them Hell and cause some anxious moments for their fans n management. I would say Stephens was one of the best guys I've seen at turning his opponent into punches with other punches he threw (turning a guy into his left hook after nailing him with his right cross). Yori Boy Campas was another guy who was tough as hell but couldn't beat the elite guys. Boxing was great during that time. Solid heavyweights, great guys around welter. I didn't appreciate it enough...

Kevin Luishing also hurt Tito before getting destroyed.
