If 'Smokin Joe' Frazier Retired In 1972

After 'whooping' Muhammad Ali in March 1971.

Yancey 'Yank' Durham was looking to line up Jimmy Ellis for an August/September 1971 date.

A rematch between the '2' would have interesting for an 'After Summer 1971 Go'.

Jimmy had 'temporarily' retired after getting demolished by 'Smokin Joe' on February 10, 1970.

But, Jimmy came back 9-Months later {November 10, 1970} and looked good in stopping {TKO 7} Peruvian Heavyweight
Champion - Roberto Davila.

Also, Jimmy had spent time working out with Muhammad Ali in late-1970 and early-1971, as well as tutoring 'Hot Prospect' - Jeff 'Candy Slim' Merrit
in Florida at the Fifth Street Gym.

Jimmy regained 'attention' when he stopped {TKO 10} 'Irish' Tony Doyle on March 2, 1971 in Miami Beach. At the time, Tony Doyle was the #10 WBA
Heavyweight, and was a one-time conqueror of Joe Frazier in the Amateurs.

You should give us another round by round of the fight.

After Joe 'smashes' Ali in 2-Weeks, we'll take on the winner of the Jimmy Ellis - Tony Doyle bout.
To be held on Tuesday Night ~ March 2, 1971 down in Miami Beach, Florida.

Joe really wants to finish off Jimmy. Even worse than he did last February 16, 1970 in Madison Square Garden
when he stopped Jimmy who could not come out for Round 5.

Jimmy has come back, and he looked pretty good on November 10, 1970 when he stopped {TKO 7} that big Peruvian
Roberto Davila

As for Tony Doyle, he was the last fighter to whip Joe {before losing to Buster Mathis in 1964}. Tony spanked Joe pretty
good back in 1964.

Joe took out Tony {TKO 2} back on October 17, 1967 ~ to 'Even' the score at 1-1. But Joe wants Tony one more time, to
end any questions.

We can fight the winner of that bout in the late-Summer {1971}, probably in August.

The Ali fight did not allow him to fight that quickly. He lost the title and never reclaimed it again.

Joe Frazier was more than capable of fighting {and defeating} Jimmy Ellis in August 1971.
