A good indicator of Torque are the guys that can generate lots of power in the shortest range of motion. So the likely stubby hook suspects with thick trunks would be on that list. (tyson, Tua, frazier, ibeabuchi, morrison, mercer, golota etc.)
Many of the forefathers like Joe Louis, Marciano were efficient and that generated a lot of Torque because they dug deep, and really thudded shots to their opponents because they were a lot looser in the release. Their footwork was often times not as good so they kept their elbows close to their body, which cut down one tendency to arc wide and go for big dramatic wind ups. This mean their release was more like a whip than swinging a hammer so they got better velocity on their shots in a shorter range of motion with less specific training for it.
Of newer guys its hard to single out many because many of the new guys go for systematic breakdowns, volume punching and placement. A guy like roy that dropped people with great shots, which i think might have had to do more with where and when he hit you thank how hard he hit you.Guys like Hearns hit hard but being tall and lanky he was really winging them and certain points and going wide or long on you. For now a days, I'd say maybe a guy like froch for a while, generated good power in short ranges of motion.

How was the Arguello right for torque
