Spinal cord injuries don't work that way, even if they're just bruised. Unfortunately that's the nature of that beast, but as long as he's getting up every day smiling at doing what he does that's all that matters. Hopefully medical science will be able to help guys like us be able to walk again. I wondered he's doing any advocacy work towards fixing the spinal cord injuries. Would be nice to have a face to promote advocacy for stem cell research.
What caused you to be paralysed?
I broke my neck in an automobile accident Christmas Eve 2012. I broken at C5 so I'm paralyzed from the neck down. I can use my arms but I can't use my hands so I'm a quadriplegic kind of like Christopher Reeve, only I don't need a ventilator to breathe. Fortunately I was an amateur boxer that year and was preparing for the 2013 Golden gloves tournament in Arizona, but as you imagine that didn't happen. But being an extreme good shape is what saved my life. No lie though being in a wheelchair paralyzed sucks I thought by this time they'd have a treatment. But hey that's life.

What caused the accident?
Were the other party at fault?
What type of boxer were you..southpaw, etc?
I'm not sure what caused the accident, in the accident report by the police there was no one list at fault. We suspect that it was just improper care of the car that we drove in. I remember though hitting something on the road like a cattle guard or a big pothole and then lost control the vehicle. Again it was a shit just kind of happens type of thing. No other vehicles were involved, nor was anybody in the car with me injured I was the only one that didn't walk away from the accident.I don't drink nor do I smoke, I believe in clean living so none of those things were a factor. In the end I lost control the vehicle so it's my fault no matter how I slice it. As far as boxing I was a 141 pound fighter and I was a right-handed guy. I was your typical face forward Mexican type of fighter. I never planned on going professional I just loved boxing, I did though train kids and other amateurs when I took breaks from fighting and work to stay in the shape I need to be in and sharp as well.
