Chavez was ready to fight him...that is until Arum wanted to force him into a bs contract. Canelo is eyeing the big fight with Cotto...which will make a TON more money than if he fought GGG.

Which means GGG will have to fight for another trinket or top contender. Either way he is favourite and unlikely to make huge money. Still waiting on the side lines for the superstar status because he is too dangerous for Cotto, Canelo and Junior.
Whether one likes it or not...boxing is a business. And whatever you may think of GGG's ability or worthiness...he is not a ticket seller on par with some of these names. I personally think he is avoiding Ward...and rightfully so...since Ward would school him. So let's not pretend GGG is willing to fight ANYONE like he makes out.

In my opinion, GGG is willing to fight anyone at 160 or below. He'd jump at a chance to fight anyone in his division. He's not Quillin who avoided a fight with Korobov. Above 160, I think GGG is being selective. He'll take high profile fights that are worth the risk in having a size disadvantage, like Froch or Junior. A fight with Ward isn't worth the risk at this point to GGG; that much is definitely true.
With that said, GGG can't avoid Ward if Ward is in the division above him. Mayweather can't avoid GGG. Ward can't avoid Hopkins. They aren't ducking the bigger fighters for not facing them.
Has Ward offered to come down to 160 to fight GGG? As far as I know, he hasn't. If he has offered to come down in weight and GGG won't fight him, well, then, I agree, it's a duck job.

With ward inactivity and GGG fighting 3-4 times a year it's clear who would have to momentum going into the fight. It's so annoying seeing ward not fight when he's in his prime, he's fought 4 times since may 2011 and not been in the ring once this year. GGG has had 11 fights since then. It's not good for ward not fighting and if he fought a live wire like GGG who has boxing skills and power, it would make things interesting.
