His goal was to beat an exceptional and awkward 49 year old, how did that work out?

I like him over Stevenson big time and they'll probably have him fight his mandatory Mohammedi next. They can hold that one in a walk in closet.

Hopkins is a survivor it's his style, Kovalev put him down in the 1st round the writing was on the
wall, he used his craftiness to see to the end, he was out on his feet with 5 seconds to go in
the last round.

That's my point. Kovalev's performance tonight was for Hopkins and Hopkins alone.
...and Kovalev didn't try to KO him until the very end. Had this fight been in the UK the fight would have been stopped with 10 seconds to go.

I was reading an article about the fight and they talked about how Kovalev would throw punches then step back out of range and they made it sound like it was some amazing tactical feat.
That is what you are supposed to do, step in, punch and finish up by getting out. That is boxing 101.

After not liking hopkins for a time he really grew on me. I did think he would pull out a win last night but Kovalev would not allow this to become a bhop fight. In my eyes that beating Bhop took in round twelve was a KO but props to Hop for not going down. He reminded me of Timothy Bradley during the Prod fight. This fight raised my opinion of both fighters. I'm looking forward to seeing what Kovalev does next

I think prior to last night a large portion of fans doubted he was even capable of adapting and showing that and spoken of like he was a one dimensional Frankenstein. The subtleties he has, along with a mule kick in either hand. Going to be a fun ride!

Kovalev looked much the bigger man and it showed, as he was a lot stronger than Hopkins
thing is now who is next for Kovalev.
