Re: Boxing Trivia (What only Hardcore fans know)
Body and soul is a cheesy boxing movie but fun to watch. TOTALLY a spin off for Leonard vs Duran. FINE ass Jayne Kennedy plays his wife as in real life.
Fav scene madman is interviewed & asked what did he put on his tax w2 for employment, he replied: i knock muthafuckas OUT!
Then a fan wants her baby photographed with him, after the baby pissed on his lap, he threw the baby.
Oh and when a Don king type promoter sets him up to get caught, his wife walks in a hotel room where he got three hoes...then chases after her dick on hard....aww baby...its just part of the business!

Kent Green sent Cassius Clay thru the Ropes, and on to the Ring Apron.
Cassius was counted out.
Kent Green wins by KO 2.
Re: Boxing Trivia (What only Hardcore fans know)
Some boxing trivia that only real boxing experts would know.
-Muhammad Ali was a great boxer and world known figure... but did you know he was born and raised in the United States??
-Tommy Hearns was a great boxer and won several titles in multiple weight divisions... but did you know that he was actually trained by the late great Manny Stewart, and not Buddy McGirt, which is a common misconception.
-The rumour that Sugar Ray Leonard was going to defect to Cuba and represent them in the '76 Olympic games in Canada is completely false. In reality, Leonard never had any aspirations of defecting to Cuba at any time in his career.
-Len Wickwar owns the record for most fights fought, competing in well over 75 boxing matches.

Great stuff.
The entire story starts off great and ends somewhat sad.
For those who can find/dig the story up- Clay was about 16, Green 18 I think?
Clay talked his way into a sparring session which Green @ the time was preparing for a major amatuer fight.
From what I've read it was a tko-Clay was standing, but the ref called it.
Later Ali would say: Green was stronger than me.
When they met each other again- Green's wife persuaded him to go up to Ali in a restuarant- knowing Ali either wouldn't remember him... or refuse to remember- But later Green stated Ali looked at him and said--There's that N-word! He knocked me out! I want him!
Then hugged him!
They casually talked and at one point before Ali retired- Green asked him to help promote his book- calling himself Ali's Ghost.
The way Ali told it...(and I understand his point) was everybody who gave him troubles as a kid amatuer or in a sparring session was trying to cash in. BUT if he wanted to make some money- fight him as a pro.
Conclusion- Ali lost his next fight to Spinks- So the postponing began- Ali trains hard and beats Spinks. Ali said he wanted to defeat anyone who had beatan him- but when he mentioned it to the powers that be- they accused Ali of digging up the bum himself.
So Ali was compromised: Fight Green to help him get some money &..avenge..or walk away and break his promise.
Everyone from future boxer Quick Tillis to Don King was asked to put the match together-instead the powers that be said they would back a fight with Larry Holmes-no one else
So there ended the rematch of Ali fighting the only one to ever stop him
Kent Green...thats my story and I'm sticking to it!
Re: Boxing Trivia (What only Hardcore fans know)
On a similar David Haye tried to entice Carl Thompson out of retirement to fight with him again at heavyweight so that he could avenge his loss. Carl declined when he was going to get paid less than what he did the first time.
Re: Boxing Trivia (What only Hardcore fans know)
Henry Cooper was an identical twin, his brother George fought as Jim Cooper.
When Henry fought Ali at Wembley pool stadium in 63, Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor were ringside.
Boxing competitions between women began in 1904 as an demonstration bout at the Summer Olympics.
Re: Boxing Trivia (What only Hardcore fans know)
Frank Sinatra could not get ringside tickets for the fight of the century Ali v Frazier 1 in 1971 that he was the photographer.

1957 Chicago Golden Gloves
Ernie Terrell was called 'Terrell the Gazelle'
Kent Green was called both 'Slim' and 'Clark Kent'

Re: Boxing Trivia (What only Hardcore fans know)
Wilfred Benitez
Campaigned as a {54 Kg} 119 Bantamweight at {Age; 14} in the
Central American and Caribbean Championships in Costa Rica {November 1972}.
Wilfred won his first '2' bouts before coming up against the Great Cuban,
28 year-old Orlando Martinez in the Quarter-Finals.
Orlando, who was the 1972 Olympic Gold Medal winner at {54 Kg} Bantamweight
was an over-whelming favorite.
Well, yes Wilfred lost a 3-Round Decision.
But, the 14 year-old Puerto Rican thrilled the Coast Rican fans with great movement,
and a still talked about defensive exhibition against a World Champion.
The Cuban won, but he hit Wilfred with only about '10-Punches' over 3-Rounds.
Re: Boxing Trivia (What only Hardcore fans know)
Ali appeared as the young fighter in Requiem for a Heavyweight. Anthony Quinn played a heavyweight that was washed up trying to get back in the title picture. I don't remember the character's name but I'll take a shot, Mountain Montana or Rivera. It was directed by Rod Sterling of Twilight Zone fame. The old fighter was overwhelmed
