I never rated Guerrero at welterweight. Is Kamagai his best win at 147 or is it Berto? Guerrero is a decent boxer but at lower weights his size helped him a lot. In his last fight, he looked slow and easy to hit. Thurman isn't as good on his back foot, but he's good enough to beat Guerrero. He also has the pop to freeze Guerrero in his tracks. He also needs a smashing performance after his last meh one. I like Thurman by big KO here.
Broner had difficulty in his last fight against Emmanuel Taylor and previously against Paulie Malignaggi, which leads me to believe he will have trouble with boxers. His only loss, on the other hand, is against an awkward slugger in Marcos Madaina. One of the underrated strengths of Broner is his heart and his chin. Maidana beat him up badly and he made it to the final bell (albeit he ran from the ring after the fight). Molina is slower than Maidana and not as crafty. He also seems to have taken a decent amount of punishment in his last few fights. This is a fight to make Broner look good and he'll fulfill the expectations.
While not super competitive in my eyes, these are good style match-ups for the first PBC show. In other words, fun viewing. Let's hope the winners face each other or face the winner of Garcia-Peterson next. Odds on that happening?
I rewatched that fight like 2 days ago because it's fun haha
Broner actually hurt Maidana in the 11th and the 12th. He didn't come close to stopping him but Broner was getting stronger, not Maidana. Like you said, his heart and chin are strengths.
I think if he had taken the loss with dignity he would have won a lot of people over. I never liked the guy because people always compared him to Floyd, even though they fight nothing alike, but I respected how he fought that night.
He fought like a punk with his bs antics and malingering. How can you respect that nonsensical display of boxing, showed he is truly a notch. What a pant load.

Later if anything. They want fights that people talk about at the water cooler on Monday at work. I'm surprised they don't have Smoger reffing both fights.
Re: Thurman/Guerrero & Broner/Molina...who wins and why?
Even though Broner is involved, I honestly am not pulling for anyone in particular as much as its just absolutely GREAT to have boxing back on 'basic' cable!! These are actually very solid style match ups that should guarantee good scraps. Molina has taken thrashings before and come back to demolish guys. This is a top time for Broner to show a backfoot and combination punching...or he can just lay in Molinas wheel house and risk getting punch in the mouth. That'd be fine too. Still not sold on Thurman or his chin as lets not forget he has been rocked good in 2 of last 3 fights. I've got nothing but respect for Guerrero who instead of dicking around with catchweights and baby steps..he jumped two divisions and beat the snot outta Berto and earned his shot. Thurman seems to have a natural size advantage and did show a new gear..though a very passive gear..vs fireplug Bundu but this will be the most complete and battle tested fighter he has faced to date. If Keith wants to emphatically speak of himself in 3rd person and keep that nickname meaningful, he'll press his advantage when the door opens and meat Guerrero in the middle.
Re: Thurman/Guerrero & Broner/Molina...who wins and why?
Molina put up a real good fight against Mathyse. If that guy shows up he would give broner nightmares but I think Molina got a lot took out of him that night & since then has been beaten by soto a faded Mexican, that's why he's got this fight with broner so adrien looks good
Thurman put the crowded to sleep vs buddy so time to make a statement again, gotta keep his back off the ropes and pot shot his way to victory. Guerro will be our speeded and has to maul his way forward but wasn't prepared to go through the pan vs floyd and I dont think he will commit himself fully in this one either.
Re: Thurman/Guerrero & Broner/Molina...who wins and why?
I read that Broner was a pound heavy at the weigh in.
