I'm not sure what the hate is about on Jr. After the knockdown he still fought back and showed heart. Sometimes even fighters hit that wall and turn them to what average joes believe as quitting. Easy said from their couches. Jr clouded mind by pride made himself look bad in the interview, but I think he still showed that dog in him throughout the fight. Obviously he is a limited fighter but ofcourse his name takes him further than what his skills may have. The fucker still goes home to premium pussy though ;D
Fonfara is underrated. A rematch with Stevenson would be nice, didn't he drop Stevenson?
I actually think that fonfara is overrated. I've never been impressed by him at all. He looked good last night only because it was target practice. Imagine Chavez actually fighting a good fighter.
Re: Classless crowd cheering for a classless fighter
Yea, what is there to say. I figured Chavez might be a little more effective at the weight as he's always cut down so much, but clearly he needed to do that. In hindsight he lost to Brian Vera because he sucks, so of course he wasn't going to be a force at 175;D Couldn't believe how little he even tried to move his head last night, he and Goosen even came out beforehand saying Fonfara repeats the same things over and over, yet here was Jr walking straight into them all night.

I am no fan of his , however he just lost a fight to a bigger better fighter.
He's made a career of coming into the ring 20-30 pounds heavier than his opponent. Even with that advantage he's had a few close calls. You're right about the manipulation part.... it's always been part of his game. The name has brought him everything. Without it he'd be just another undisciplined, run-of-the-mill punk.
He lost to a better fight, that's quite correct.... which just points out his blatant lack of fundamentals, since Fonfara in another context really isn't all that. But bigger? Unfortunately we were denied his fight night weight, since apparently he refused to get on the scale for that. But the fact that for the first time in his life he wasn't grossly outweighing his opponent, and got the living shit beat out of him.... tells me that without the weight advantages (and his famous name)..... he's NOTHING.
Nothing.
What's that famous saying?
What goes around comes around.
Re: Classless crowd cheering for a classless fighter
I found it rather amusing that chavez mentioned fonfara's size advantage...
Re: Classless crowd cheering for a classless fighter
As has been mentioned in other threads...
One has to wonder what would happen should Junior fight a top flight contender his own size, with the same or more power than Fonfara. Andrzej is good, but by no means the best. Chavez would get decimated even worse this time around.
My feeling is Chavez will now go back to his cheating ways.... doing whatever it takes (legal or not) to starve/dehydrate himself to 160, and then use his huge size advantage to overpower his much smaller opponent. Much as he's done during his entire career. You don't have to be good for that.

He can't make 160 any more no matter what IMO.
He will try 168, get his ass kicked by a contender and retire.
Given his past history with diuretics and his obsession with being twice as big as his opponent, I wouldn't put it past him to get something amputated for the weigh-in, and then reattached in time for the fight.
;)
