Not sure I agree and based on the fight overall that fight may have done more harm then good. I'd bet half the buyers were not even boxing fans and after watching it will use it as evidence as to why they are not. In addition Floyd is an anomaly. Others that fight in a safety first style cant draw flies.
The fight was also an anomaly. Like an academy award movie that nobody had a chance to see or at least that was what it was supposed to be. Many again, bought the fight out of curiosity on what all the fuss was about. They left it wondering the same thing. I think the spinoff from this fight is the quickened end to PPV which imo is a good thing. It never helped the sport in any way that I can see.
I think guys like Haymon and Jay z saw it coming and so have the networks which will do more to keep the sport alive then the glory few of the sport.
Re: Looks like well over 5 million buys
This fight brought a lot of new potential boxing fans into the boxing tent, but the fight was disappointing so most of them walked out and a lot are unlikely to come back in in the future.
I don't think true boxing fans are going to stop watching boxing because this fight was a bust.

Re: Looks like well over 5 million buys
That gets beaten when Johsua and Wilder hook it up.... especially if the remain undefeated... get money from both sides of the pond!
Re: Looks like well over 5 million buys
Are not the majority of these buys by businesses in America, which can then be written off as a business expense.

Floyd v Pac may not have set the World alight, but Canelo v Kirkland did a good fight for the casual
fight fan, all in all a action fight that's boxing from boring to magnificent, that why you have to
love boxing it keeps you guessing.:)

Mind you, that number will take some beating, probably be the next generation of crossover stars when Floyd and co are retired
Just because boxing is dead on your side of the pond doesn't mean it's dead for us.;D
It's called humour. I know without the smiley face it's probably hard to tell from where you are standing.
British boxing is, has been and will continue to be one of the best domestic scenes on the planet. Certainly in pound for pound terms, considering the size of Great Britain, we punch well above our weight.
Quite amazing how hard it is for some to detect sarcasm. It's not just the thicko's either (well sort of makes you a thicko).
I guarantee if I started a thread now saying Naz was a useless fraud, there are people on this forum, who have read/posted in my Naz threads, that would tell me i'm a hater/wrong.
