britain is doing okay considering the humble little country we are :D

How about South Korea Miles? How many world champs they have and boxing big over there?

there was in jin chi before, but he lost last time out against some japanese guy. the name escapes me as do most japanese (or korean for that matter) names...

otherwise i dont really know of any up and coming korean boxers....

the koreans are more into their K1 and taekwondo.....not my cup of tea really...

i wish they showed more boxing instead of the relentless k1....i do get my boxing reruns though so i shouldnt complain too much...and sometimes, if im lucky, i even get to watch a fight live!!!! :D

no, he's south korean....fought a lot up in seoul....

good fighter but went to japan and lost in the backyard....its like western boxers going to germany...its just not safe..

Yes they do and also We have 2 that are ranked #1 in there divisions, not 1. (Hatton and Calzaghe!!!)

Remember I'm only counting the top 10 fighters in each division. Johnny Nelson has slipped down to #12 for lack of activity.

Fought 2 times in 2002
Fought 1 time in 2003
Fought 1 time in 2004
Fought 1 time in 2005

Thats 5 fights in 4 years.... ??? Thats why theres on 4 Champs in the top 10 for Britain.

As I said in the other reply to bilbo.....Britain is gathering some great prospects at this moment and can very well turn that 4 belt holders to about 8 belt holders theres so much talent.....

A good list - must have taken some research !!

The list indicates that the Mexicans are the best boxing nation on earth (and I doubt many Mexicans will disagree)

Personally, I think that the Cubans are, but they do not get a chance to officially go professional.

I wonder is anyone has done a similar list for amateur Olympians, World Champion mdallists etc. I reckon the Cubans would be winning the modern era hands down?

Hey Mick I've got a few more questions that your list has thrown up.

1. Why are Europeans so crap at boxing? Only Britain is any good, the rest are useless, why is that?

3. I've got an idea to make Britain the most succesful country in the world..... bare with me here,

Firstly, get rid of the flyweight division, it's crap 108lb men could be beaten up by you and me, plus then we get rid of all of Japans top fighters, Britain climbs 1 place.
Secondly ban the heavyweight division. Lets face it they are all so bad they need to be all retired. Result, six less top US fighters, Britain is gaining some more places.
Thirdly and most controversial, we make the lowest fight weight 154lbs. Ok it's difficut and a lot of good fighters would go, but Hatton is a porker so he could come up, Mayweather is heading there anyway and Corales really needs to put on some weight, the rest of them , well F*** em there has to be some casualties. Good news is though that now we've lost all the Mexicans!

Horray, Britain is the second most succesful boxing nation in the world, just behind US. All we need to do now is to wait another 10 years and the US will be so full of fatties that none of them will be able to make the 190lb max weight limit and Britain is number 1 fighting nation in the world.

Come on you know it makes sense, restoring some British Pride!! :P
