I think the difference is Golovkins chin Is solid where lemieux chin isn't
I like Lemieux but this would be a suicide fight for him. He can punch but Golovkin has a solid chin and cuts the ring off a lot better than Lemieux. If he can't hurt Golovkin he'll have to go in reverse and if that happens there'll only be one winner.
Although I agree that David does not win the chin-off, the biggest puncher the Kaz has faced thus far was Stevens and I dont recall how good or even if he landed flush. David hits harder then Curtis. That's the mystery for me because Davids going to land and one punch can change a fight. Davids a fast starter and loves to work inside and the Kaz is a slow starter that likes to break people down. Distance will be key with T-Rex's sawed off reach. Davids got to get in range and be first. There are no better matchups in this division regardless of the celebrity of others. This is a fight between the two best.
Really hope this comes off but I think Lemiuex is being overrated by some here.
He's been matched very carefully to regain his confidence n look sensational since Rubio stopped him years ago.
It'll be exciting but he won't beat GGG.
If Cotto is considered this lineal champion and Ring ranks him at #1 then I'm not over the top at all. I sincerely believe that he's the second best in the division at this level right now Julian Jackson chin or not. Oh there are some up and comers in fact several but I'm talking at the precipice right now. I think Charlo is a few fights away and he will be dominant and that Chudinov kat is pretty good but of all the "prize" fighters right now I think its 1 and 2.
The Chudinov you're referring to (Fedor) is a Super-Middle. His brother Dmitry is a middle and was well beaten and stopped by Eubank Jr. I agree this is the most exciting fight to be made and I want good things for David but my opinion is that it is too early to make this fight. I think he needs 1 or 2 defences before going in there with Golovkin. Id say the same thing about Danny Jacobs.
Yeah it was Dmitry and I know about Jr. I still think he's a good one and David lost to a shot Alcine. Shit happens. The time is now for David. He's close to 27 which is old for those who fight like him.
He's looking for cash and even if he gets beat it does not hurt him financially. Nobody else can beat the guy either and they wont even fight him. Shit he might get a Cotto fight or be a great gate keep. He's in his prime and the Kaz is coming 34.
Quick question because i do not remember but has GGG ever been hurt just asking because his fights end in brutal ko a lot of the time. Has he ever been rocked bad or deck or anything great fight so we can unify the belt since Cotto wont fight GGG. I am looking forward to this fight should be a good one with a better level fighter. GGG has pretty much fought everyone in the division after this so it is cleared out if he wins i wonder if he going to move up or try to get a money fight with Cotto or Ginger. I would still like to see the Ward and GGG fight as well though.
GGG has taken some big punches, but he just brushes them off and keeps walking after you. Some people would say he's been hit too easily for a fighter as highly regarded as he is, and that's probably a fair comment.
But because he's such a ferocious puncher , his rock hard chin hardly gets noticed. this is why I think at MW he is nigh on unbeatable. First you have to avoid his power for 12 rounds , then you have to try to hurt the guy!
Agreed for the most part. I don't think he gets hit to much. I think thats a bit of an urban legend. He's willing to take one to get one on occasion because of that chin. I think one of the most overlooked aspects of the guy is his boxing savvy. Its going to be hard for T-rex to get in there without getting plugged with those stubs he has for arms but he has to.
Golovkins never been dropped in he's career professional or amature. Lemieux has been stopped before. He even got rocked by Rosado. It's really a no Brainer I mean yeah great match up two power punchers but it'll only last as long as Lemieux chin holds up.
It's not going to be like being clocked by Geale and still having no problem landing the finishing punch. I think Golovkin and his team though, will be more than aware of Lemieux's power and they will make sure that it's David pulling the Curtis Stevens face early before GGG ends it. Lemieux for all his power is nowhere near someone like Murray, either defensively or in his ability to take punishment and so without the feet to get away, he will find himself stuck in the corner and Gennady will deploy that swingball like metronomic hooking barrage, like a hyperactive Newton's cradle from hell, and the Canadian monster will fall, along with a nations hopes and dreams. Either that or GGG gets complacent and walks into one of the handsome Godzillas bombs and gets sparked tfo.
