Re: Kell Brook vs. Diego Chaves in Sheffield on October 24th
Not sure where all of this Chaves fights dirty comes from. He just fought two of the dirtiest fighters in the sport and merely got in the gutter with them. The guys got a set and he may not be a world beater but I wish some of these other posers would step up like he has and fight anybody anywhere. Brook has got the toughest fight out of the lot that occupy the top of the food chain. He best be on his A-GAME because Chaves is a real legit gate-keeper

Brook's only realistic current big fight is Khan.
So why on earth does Brook not just get over to America and fight some names? Go for the money, the glory, and come back home when all is conquered. Name fighters are simply not going to want to come to the UK. The UK has bad weather, early stoppages, and infamous fights like Khan/Barrera. Fighters only get tempted when their careers are slipping (Toney) or they think the British fighter is shot (Calzaghe/Lacy). Might as well just get out there to the states and beat them all up.
Funk that! Contrary to what many fans like you believe boxing is not an American sport. The onus should be on the challenger to travel not the champion. Barring Floyd/Pac every other welter should be expected to come to the UK. Brook is not just the IBF champion but he's top rated by every reputable publication.
Big names can earn the money in this country with Brook. However, why would you fight Brook for a million quid when you can earn a million quid fighting a much lesser foe?
Re: Kell Brook vs. Diego Chaves in Sheffield on October 24th
Brook fighting someone who has just lost to Rios and Bradley?
Re: Kell Brook vs. Diego Chaves in Sheffield on October 24th
Chaves loss to Rios shouldn't really count. He was winning when he got chucked out. Bit harsh too, Rios and Garcia did a number on the ref with the constant bitching
Re: Kell Brook vs. Diego Chaves in Sheffield on October 24th
People just need to be more patient. Everyone knows that the "Fight Floyd Sweepstakes" had put a lot of these potential fights at a standstill. When Floyd retires and the smoke clears, they'll start to fight one another more frequently...

I think most observers thought he did lose.

Most observers but not the judges , you don't lose rating points from the opinion of fans.
Re: Kell Brook vs. Diego Chaves in Sheffield on October 24th
Apparently this will be made official today along with the Fury-Klit PPV.
Chaves has done some serious homework on Brook --- Kell Brook to fight Diego Chaves in Sheffield on Oct. 24 - Ring TV

December 12th will be their 4th of the year.
Unfortunately however much you cry and scream about it, PPV clearly works otherwise they wouldn't be increasing them.

The only reason they are pushing it because they have to make back the money they overpaid for the football contract.
After the Haye fiasco and Klit fight I believe they were not going to make as much ppv fights.
Re: Kell Brook vs. Diego Chaves in Sheffield on October 24th
That was four years ago before SKY signed an exclusive deal with Matchroom and Eddie Hearn took over British boxing.
Re: Kell Brook vs. Diego Chaves in Sheffield on October 24th
PPV is a dodo bird looking for that last female to bang or in this case the last sucker to blood-let. Most of the people that buy them don't even follow the sport. Oh it will hold out on some national levels. I mean look how long that circus fake WWF lasted. Hell it out sold boxing ppv's. They will figure out some way to hose us in the future but PPV as we have known it wont exist in a decade.
Back to the fight.
Brook is a by far the most talented of the bunch but a thought process has returned that I had dismissed after his last two fights. I am back to questioning his self confidence. I'm not sure why the Rios fight would get dumped on a rematch clause. Why did he feel he needed a rematch clause fighting at home against Rios? Its a voluntary defense so the Ibf would have most likely ordered one anyway. I'm sure the other top dogs never even considered a fight in London since they are making 7 figures fighting softies on Haymon tv.
Chaves most likely jumped at it like a life raft after all they called him the jewel early on and he has failed to deliver while expected to rise along with his amateur buddies Maidana and Mathysse. He also I am sure must consider the mandatory rematch clause as a sign of weakness. Are they expecting another Carson Jones moment? Don't get me wrong, I think Brook should beat Chaves but the demand for a rematch clause is troublesome. Skills may pay the bills but the brain is the conductor.
Re: Kell Brook vs. Diego Chaves in Sheffield on October 24th
Surely they can't justify this being PPV now.
Eubank jr's opponent is Tony Jeter (yeah, exactly). Three round job, max.
Ricky Burns-TBA
McDonnell-Parodi for Euro title.
That's it. Two and half weeks out.
