Agree with this.
Mayweather Jr has had the the top of the 140/147/154lb divisions in a state of virtual paralysis for the best part of a decade.
There are so many high quality matchups in the offing (especially at 147), but the top guys have all been sat by their phones for 8 years hoping that Mayweather Jr phones them up for a fight!
Even Gennady Golovkin at 160 has been waiting for a call!
If he has actually really retired (which I don't believe for a minute), the top guys can then get on with fighting each other & not worrying about Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Let me understand you...You think it's Floyd's fault that the top contenders at 140/147&154 didn't fight one another...?!
How is Floyd responsible for these guys sitting around like gaping vaginas hoping he would choose to fight them?
LOL yeah gotta love how the haters think. It's like listening to 3 year old kids trying to explain to you how a combustion engine works.
The fact is, Floyd fought the undisputed #1 154lber Canelo. He fought the #1 WW Pac.
All these bums at 147 refused to fight each other! None of the cowards would fight Thurman, and cowards like Khan went for easy money like Algieri (and Algieiri gave him the fight of his life LOL).
If all those bums at 147 agreed to fight each other, Mayweather would have had a much better opponent for his retirement fight. Instead, they all stayed away from each other and grabbed the low lying fruit.

It's not his fault in a direct sense in that he's told them all to wait for an email, but the way he has conducted his career this past few years has had a definite effect.
He's been the golden goose fighter with most of the belts in his loft, so it's understandable that all the top guys would want a crack at him & might not risk taking on a tough opponent just in case it goes wrong.
With him gone, it actually opens things up a bit.
So Floyd's the scapegoat for the fighters of 4 weight classes being afraid to fight one another. HahahahHAa! You haters take things pretty far sometimes!
What on Earth is a hater?
It's like being back in primary school sometimes.

It seems as if some people have difficulty comprehending the notion that you can talk about Mayweather in a way that might not be 100% complementary, but at the same time, not hate him.
Whichever numpty first coined the word 'hater' has a lot to answer for, because the minute you say something that is even mildly critical, you get labelled as a 'hater', whatever one of those is.

the best fighters arent always the best to watch
using a recent example, it was a shame when carl froch retired, always in good fights, exciting night of boxing, get the beers in and the lads round and look forward to it
mayweather, although possibly the best around, just doesnt generate that sort of excitement (not for me anyway)
im glad he has retired, the biggest fights around his weight were the ones that involved him, lets hope now that the biggest fights are exciting to watch

never a truer word spoken :)
having said that tho
i really dont like floyd as a person, his interviews are embarrassing most of the time, from what i hear about the way he carries himself in his personal life doesnt bode well and i have seen him in only a few entertaining fights
perhaps i am a hater, im not arsed either way
Re: Couldn't care less that Floyd has retired. Hope he chokes on his corn flakes.
On Mayweather I am a hater and I will freely admit it. I despise everything about him and if he never returns to boxing, I would be pleased.
Re: Couldn't care less that Floyd has retired. Hope he chokes on his corn flakes.
Amazed how many people believe this crock about Floyd actually retiring and never coming back. It's kinda like seeing the same movie over and over again and each time expecting a different ending. Better yet... it's like leaving after the last song of the concert, before the band has a chance to come back to play their really last song, like they always do.
Re: Couldn't care less that Floyd has retired. Hope he chokes on his corn flakes.
im VERY happy he is gone. his run/potshot/no action style/crooked paid off judging & reffing has damaged the sport for years. read this article!!! Facts. The Boxing Tour de France - Boxing.com
