Re: Quillin vs. Jacobs....
I like this fight.
I'm siding with Jacobs because of his back story and the fact he comes across as a nice guy. Pathetic reason but whatever. I think either man could score a KO. Quillins punch output against Lee was poor, but maybe that was down to Lee's tactics/power.
Jacobs PTS 5/1

We've all picked fighters for worse reasons. Fact, as someone says. :D

Best man win I suppose.
True enough. I'll be cheering for Jacobs because I'm not fond of how Quillin approached the game and his choice of nicname while taking that approach has always bugged me. The real Kid Chocolate would never dreamt of taking that approach. Quillin has sat out and almost ducked much of his own prime while Jacobs fought Pirog at the beginning of his. I'm a sucker for adversity. Not much of it in this era of padded records and divisional stand still. Daniels chin quite literally comes to a point. Almost like a triangle. Quillin still looks awfully stiff above the waist and does not have Young Stribling's chin either and both men can bang. Jacobs imo is the better boxer and more fluid of the two but Quillin has the ring savvy upstairs. Should be a good one.
Re: Quillin vs. Jacobs....
The real issue I have with picking Jacobs is how he got put on the canvas by Sergio Mora. Mora is the lightest punching middleweight in the top of the rankings. If he can put Jacobs down, I have to think Quillin might take him cold. Quillin is also a monster middleweight. I really wonder if he makes 160 safely today. On the other hand, Quillin is plodding and flat-footed, and more of a one-two guy. Jacobs has more nuance to his game. It's a good even scrap. I'm excited for it.

I'll add it kind of rubbed me the wrong way when asked if he would give more an rematch due to the broken ankle and he went "no, i'm just moving forward". If it was a one sided beating, i'd have no objection. If he said, "well right now i believe the tables set for a big fight... something my promoters working on, but after that sure, id rematch him in the future. He still seems like he has an injury to come back from." , i'd have no objection.. Jacobs has gotten some practice talking out of the side of his mouth while doing his commentating. So it kinda made it look like he realized he had some kind of close call, he lucked out and was going to take that and run. To anyone thinking, "who would run from sergio mora"?.... exactly
And Jacobs is talking bigger than Quillen for this fight... I understand the promotional aspect of running ones mouth... It just rings a little hollow now considering the Mora thing.
Re: Quillin vs. Jacobs....
Love this very much slept on match up! This unfortunately has trailed in the shadow of that Cotto-Alvarez middleweight non middleweight show and at the risk of jinxing it, I cannot see this ending in anything other than a explosive shoot out. I too am stuck with the vision of Jacobs being badly dropped with a perfect Mora left hook and more so how Jacobs rushes out of position and has always dangled his chin. Anyone remember when Ishe Smith had him badly hurt and staggering? Wouldn't be shocked to see Quillin come in a bulky Lt heavyweight and think his left hook will be the one to cave in the house.
Btw anyone interested....the awaited return of Chris algeri in on Showtime extreme :-X
Re: Quillin vs. Jacobs....
I got Jacobs winning this one. I think this may be a multiple swing fight. Where one guy takes over then the other takes over. Its a good match-up credit to both for putting it on the line.
Re: Quillin vs. Jacobs....
I think Quillin KOs him. Jacobs is pretty good but I think that Quillin is a little better and has the punch to take him out. It's a good match up though. Definitely wouldn't be surprised to see Jacobs win though.

Re: Quillin vs. Jacobs....
Undefeated Lt heavy Marcus Browne v trailhorse Francisco Sierra on Showextreme right now
Sierra misses weight by 6 lbs, fight goes on. * tko 4th for Brown. Bad cut result of right hand in 1st round.
Re: Quillin vs. Jacobs....
Decent little scrap by Algieri and Erick Bone! Chris scores iffy KD in 9th and they finish with solid exchanges and 95-94..97-92x2 win Algieri. A lot less posturing and tap dancing by Algieri tonight.
Re: Quillin vs. Jacobs....
Jacobs at 175 lbs..Looked like a KD for Cuellar in 3rd??? Oquendo is slowly running out of room to move..
Re: Quillin vs. Jacobs....
Better 6th for Oquendo, stopped Cuello still on his heels with couple of counter. Cuello is so crude and seemingly open it works to his advantage.
