Hey, W.W.O., ....... Frazier and NOT Marciano? Rocky held the title from 1952 to 1956 and defended it 6 times (5 KOs, 1 decision). Frazier held it less time and defended it less times as well.
WWO= Wolverhamptom Wild One ;)
Frazier had more title defences against better fighters.
Prove it
Frazier had 9 successful defences

Nonsense
It is true, look it up on boxing rec. He won the title, defended it 9 times before losing it to George Foreman which makes Joe better champion than Rocky. Deal with it.
Re: Year-end 2015 *updated* ATG HW RANKINGS
WBA and WBC title he won in 1970 from Jimmy ellis--- he lost those titles on his 5th title defense in Kingston Jamaica.
You are mistakenly thinking the New York State Athletic Commission title is the Heavyweight Champion of the World. Those fights were not HW Champ of the World, those are STATE TITLES, SUCH AS CHAMP OF WESSEX, CHAMP OF ESSEX, CHAMP OF DUNDEE, CHAMP OF DUNGHOLAIRE, CHAMP OF NORTHUMBRIA, ETC.....
NICE TRY THOUGH.

yeah, McNeely/McBride--it's all the same for an Amritsari, really.
Re: Year-end 2015 *updated* ATG HW RANKINGS
You know I don't see Sonny Liston on the list. Only Ali beat him. Wins over big cat Williams Henry Clark and Floyd Patterson twice. I think he could beat most on this list.

NYSAC World Heavyweight Title. There was no other better heavyweight champion at the time as Ali was exiled.

Which further supports the case that Ali was the greatest ever heavyweight champion beating 3 greats in his era. No one compares with that.
Face facts no one has a better record.
Re: Year-end 2015 *updated* ATG HW RANKINGS
Who would come out on top with the most wins if they all fought each other?

Now that is a different question altogether.

Well said sir. In any division a great champion must have 3 things Chin heart and stamina. If Marciano lacked any one of these 3 there is no way he becomes champ. Ali also had all 3 plus ring smarts and speed. Foreman was unbeatable, Ali knocked him out. Liston was unbeatable, Liston was unable to answer the bell for round 7. Ali fought all over the world taking on all comers. Now brothers and Sisters that's great.

It is but people can get confused over what greatest means. Sime fighters have great careers and achievements but others would beat that same fighter.
Foreman had a great career in the end but most on that list would beat him I think.
Klitschko would also probably be higher as would Lewis and Tyson.

That list would be a bit warped as I could see it being
Lennox
Evander
Tyson
Vitali
Bowe
Holmes
Wlad
Foreman
Liston
Frazier
