Re: Thoughts with Nick Blackwell
Eubank only said go to the body because there was no way Blackwell was going to get knocked out. Nick's chin was solid.
The only time there could have been a stoppage was when Junior had Blackwell cornered and thew a lot of punches but they were being blocked. If the fight was stopped then then there would have been outrage.
In hindsight it could have been stopped then but 99 out of 100 it would have been ok to carry on.

The evidence was there, repeatedly taking good shot after good shot, too far behind to win on pounts, Eubank too strong to hurt by a tiring fighter. Unfortunately some peoples blood lust to see their moneys worth and poor judgement has led to Blackwell being in a coma.

Re: Thoughts with Nick Blackwell
This Eubank trying to save Blackwell shit is beyond pathetic. He was giving Jr the "take it out the ref's hands" speech. He was telling him to focus on the body from the start.
Re: Thoughts with Nick Blackwell
They reckon he will be pulled out of the coma tomorrow, I just hope everything is OK when he comes round

Eubank Jr has a habit for headhunting instead of banging the drum, and Sr was on his case earlier in the fight too. For me, its typical of the media trying to think of an angle so they can bash boxing and the ref.

I'm sorry but I think this is getting stupid. Not only is the ref to blame , but Sr. Is some sort of Messiah!
I've even read said somewhere that Eubank Sr. Saved Blackwell's life ffs!
Are you telling me that the fight should've been stopped at the end of the 5th? I'm pretty certain that Blackwell had some success and stunned Jr. After the 5th. (e.g.When Jr. Was busy chopsing off to Saunders like the fucking prick he is!)
All Sr. Was saying to his fighter was his usual mix of clichés and horseshit between rounds, and then standing back to admire his work for 10 seconds. Anything he said of any relevance is purely coincidental , HE IS NOT THE MESSIAH!
Finally, if Sr. Is some sort of soothsayer, does that mean Jr. Is a brutal murderer because he didn't want to listen to the Great one and virtually told him to Shut up one time?
Even between the last 2 rounds, you could hear Ronnie Davis saying to Jr. "Do it your way", trying to calm Jr. Down because he was getting fucked off with what the Messiah was saying.
It's funny how these things don't get quoted after the event, but then again they're not sensational enough are they?
Eubank,Haters will hate ;D.
Seriously though, Refs leave a lot to be desired. I've always been with Ron Lipton 100% regarding many refs out there and why they are there. Its is not No1 for the fighters sake as should be the no 1.
Yet here we see Eubank Snr being hated on cause he is there first for the fighters sake. No messiah shit,no ego shit, simply fighters safety through experience and logic, thats all. The video to me shows that there is a wide gap in peoples awareness refs included and Refs need to be taught signs and never fear backlash from a crowd of blood lusters because that does occur still. I recon Refs need to be accountable and liable through whoever they work for its them who should cover all insurance, not a fighter.

There it is.

Have not watched the fight but hope Blackwell rebounds to live a quality life. Yet another tragic example that while we sit behind keyboards and yell at the tube, there truly are no "bums" climbing into the ring regardless of ability level. They all get punched in the skull, and the damage is real.

Doubtful he will ever fight again though, real shame that and that is the real question, is it avoidable?
Re: Thoughts with Nick Blackwell
If Blackwell had been ok afterwards, would people be making a big deal out of the fight not being stopped? That's all you can really ask as far as how it was handled. It was a routine mismatch with the loser being to tough for his own good, complete par for the course in boxing. If the fight had been stopped far sooner, Blackwell might have wound up in a similar way a couple of fights down the line, still partially a result of the damage he took in this one. It would be nice if there were medical advances that allowed people to detect disposition for risk of brain injuries in the future, barring that about all you can suggest is that people not get punched in the head for a living.

I hope not as much as that sucks to say, imagine your entire career choice and way of life shut off over night. And that's the plus side of what we know could also be crippling or life ending injury. Cut and dry, no matter 1st round or 12th, fighters get hit and the inevitable result is damage. You inflict it and/or you avoid it. That's something we know at the door. It cannot be avoided to different degrees but key is lessening and being pro active. The last thing I want is to watch boxing go the way of the current NFL with the flag football injury-lawsuit conscience truckload of rules and penalties. But it starts at competent officiating and accountability. Even more so with the more and more obvious mismatches we buy into. Guys jumping not only class but weight division. Heavy favorites blowing weight and being allowed to pay some opponent an extra few thousand to "go along". Seriously more in favor of rehydration clauses now. Stateside we have States without athletic commissions who have to "borrow" officials for events and places where a Joe Mesi..with bleeding on the brain..can be allowed to fight. Or Oscar Larios going down to good ol' Mexico to do same. It doesn't always stop at Refs feet either, that's a bit of a cop out as I've watched commission heads literally leap over the top rope to stop obvious back street beatings the ref seemed to be tolerating all too much. That's a catch 22 yes but if you see your employee doing a shit job and pull him off the floor..so be it. Corners should also be allowed to again wave the flag or toss a towel instead of having it thrown out. And when you shout "one more round or else" fookin mean it! Maybe I'm getting old but we're not fookin cavemen. Don't get me wrong I love a great brawl and the primal yell of a fight but when we know its a showcase going in, we're all responsible. Having a granite beard or being so game is not necessarily a compliment so much as it is a constant to prove with some guys. Running on and in the wrong place
Get well Mr. Blackwell!
