re: Haye v Bellew - 4/3/17 rd-by-rd
Haye's a crossover star, that's what all the nerdy boxing fans don't get. The geezer is always on the biggest TV shows in the country.
Makes me laugh that Haye has never once in the entire buildup said this fight is anything more than a one round mismatch yet - as this thread shows - people will still buy it. And i'd bet my bollocks they're the same people that wont buy Brook-Spence.

I think the Groves fight was a mistake too, maybe a calculated risk but probably not the way you would want to build a fighter at a new weight
whilst haye's biggest earning fights? Macrinelli? Harrison? Bellew?
Surely Haye's biggest earning fight was Wlad,no?
yeah there was that one, but mentioning that my point doesn't sound as good

Haye demands protective barrier ahead of Bellew showdown ;D

re: Haye v Bellew - 4/3/17 rd-by-rd
Haye had a barrier against Chisora so he should have it as part of all his contracts.
re: Haye v Bellew - 4/3/17 rd-by-rd
Bellew said a few days ago that he doesn't care if the fight gets called off and will get his punches in first if Haye so much as twitches near him.
Probably a good idea to keep them well apart.
It's more than just pre fight hype to drum up PPV sales..... there is a genuine hate factor between these two.

re: Haye v Bellew - 4/3/17 rd-by-rd
This is an extremely poor matchup and shame on anyone that actually pays money to watch it. When Haye wins he deserves a shot at someone in the top 10 and nothing more. He is mugging the easily mugged Brits. A very bad fight.
The Golovkin/Jacobs fight is a much better fight and even that one is potentially a bit of a mismatch.
re: Haye v Bellew - 4/3/17 rd-by-rd
I'm not really hyped for this. There are better fights that deserve attention. Briedis vs Huck for example. Bellew avoided the high risk low reward Briedis fight for the $$$ against Haye. Can't say I blame him but where does he go after this if Haye bombs him out? The winner of Briedis/ Huck will be waiting for him at cruiser or he remains at heavy. Either will be tough.
re: Haye v Bellew - 4/3/17 rd-by-rd
Haye got good money for 'mismatches' against Macaroni, Chisora, and above all Audrey. I bet the last generation 'golden boys' like Billy Walker or Freddie Mills would have been glad to have had these potential piss useless cash cows as a pension scheme! The way it goes with promoters over hyping their prospects, good luck to him, but I have to say that Bellend is Virgin (Branson his promoter?) on the ridiculous.
re: Haye v Bellew - 4/3/17 rd-by-rd
Following his disgraceful non-effort against Wlad, Haye has now punched two opponents during press conferences, fought two guys who literally couldn't box over 3 years and is now fighting an average blown up cruiserweight.
He has been on numerous reality TV shows, is going through a costly divorce and has hyped this 'fight' in his usual crass and tasteless manner.
For a fighter to tell a fellow pro that he will 'kill him', 'hospitalise him', humiliate him in front of his family and do him such serious damage that he won't fight again is vile.
There is a real possibility that Bellew could get badly hurt in this mismatch, which should never have been sanctioned anyway.
Haye has done nothing but disrespect the sport we love, let's hope that he doesn't continue to do so for much longer.
re: Haye v Bellew - 4/3/17 rd-by-rd
Tell you what - after watching "The Gloves Are Off" face off on Sky Sports last night Bellew 100% has the upper hand and Haye at times was lost for words and didn't look his usual confident self.
Infact he looked mentally worried at times as Bellew put questions to him that he couldn't seem to answer.
If this was a battle of minds then Bellew definitely has the upper hand.
Makes you wonder just how confident Haye will be if Bellew can weather his power for a few rounds.... Will Haye fall apart mentally and we'll se a repeat of the Carl Thompson fight?
