Will I pay for him and Conor? Nope
Most of Floyd's recent fights have been on sky and box office platform not box nation. He is an overpriced woman beating illiterate lucky prick who could never carry a fight off his own back, he needs a big opponent to sell big because he is not exciting and has no punch power.
^Right there is why Floyd is so popular. Desperate delusional hate. And these types are so desperate they will always pay.
If these people could just say "he's damn good but he bores me" they could win. But they can't win because they need their delusion "Floyd can't sell" they hate the man. This means Floyd has established an emotional connection to these people. There are countless studies about how humans are programmed with a fundamental need to be right. Ever got into a fight with a significant other and later realized you don't even really care about what the fight is about? This is what Floyd has done. He's made a bunch of irrational girlfriends out of fans. If they can't be honest, they are so connected that they are willing to lie to themselves and others, he's got them. Because deep in the brain these people have a need to be right and a need to see it.
Floyd can't sell. A person was willing to write that the greatest selling boxer of all time, and by a wide margin, can't sell. You could spread delusion like that on toast.

Do not over analyse it, I have never paid and never will.

Most of Floyd's recent fights have been on sky and box office platform not box nation.
Floyd has been on Sky twice in 10 years - Mosley ("free") and Pac (PPV).
What about the Hatton fight?
I believe that was PPV, so that means 2 PPV fights in the UK in 10 years and 9 that have not been PPV
When you consider that Hatton was the biggest star in the UK at the time and Mayweather v Pacman was the biggest fight in recent years its Not too bad if you ask me @
Master
I am sure Saul Alvarez was on sky.

Nah I'm 99% certain it was Boxnation, I think that was before Matchroom had stole the monopoly.
*edit*
Just checked and it was Boxnation
Re: Why is Floyd Mayweather able to attract so much attention?
And all Mayweather haters think that he hand picked every easy fight possible even though many of them were thought to be able to compete much better than they did. There were very few fighters that I think Floyd kind of avoided during his career. He was so much better than most people that it didn't matter who he fought, he was going to make his opponent look bad.

He fought Guerrero despite there being no demand for such a matchup. He even fought Maidana despite there being no demand for such a match up (almost came unstuck). So, he has been picking and choosing fight in fight out. Let's not even get started on opponents like Baldomir or Mitchell or how he wouldn't even make the weight against a tiny Marquez.
If Mayweather came to fight and was interesting to watch you might somehow get it, but he is incredibly boring and does the bare minimum in every fight against opponents you knew he was going to beat anyway. How on earth is he popular? Do ordinary fans enjoy watching him fight? The opponents are handpicked and he makes you fall asleep every time. At least Pac gives something back by having a fight that anyone can watch, but Floyd wants the money, he wants to pick the opponent, and he wants to bore you. He's taking the mickey and I just cannot fathom how that is popular.
Then he comes along and picks a fight with a novice and the media is all over it, the forums are all over it and again I am scratching my head. There are much better fights than this, there are fights that actually have meaning and will very well entertain. Don't be suckered into this con mans games. He's laughing at you all.
Thoughts?
He is more intelligent than people give him credit for. Plus, people want to see him beaten. Also, his flashy money style garners attention, both good and bad. Lastly, and most importantly, he is animated when it comes to trash talking.... he REALLY shits on opponents. Oscar, Shane (in particular), Corely, etc... he shits on dudes and people get angry at him for it.
Re: Why is Floyd Mayweather able to attract so much attention?
If there EVER was a boxing "heel", like Wrasslin' with Ric Flair, it has to be Floyd.
Re: Why is Floyd Mayweather able to attract so much attention?
Brocks comment about the IQ might well be on the money. The only Floyd fights I have been interested in were the Hatton and Pac ones. Both sly moves really. One was getting Hatton up to 147 and having the dodgiest referee in the world. The other was waiting a decade until deciding to pounce on Pac. Pac doesn't have his legs or the ability to sustain an attack. The arm was a nice excuse, but his output or legs never came back even when 'healthy' again.
Floyd is boring, he cherrypicks, and this latest pantomime is the icing on the cake. We could have him go to the toilet and say he is fighting the turd of a lifetime and it would make 50 million from the fanboys who cannot wait to get a look and those wanting to see him lose saying 'This will be the turd that gets him'.

As Ron pointed out, people like you who have such a hatred for him just grows his popularity. Only 2 fights of his you have been interested in? The best fighter in the world? He has fought tons of good fighters. The hatred is just out of control.
There are definitely fighters I don't like but my hatred doesn't cloud my judgement. For example, I've never been a Pacquiao fan, and I can give way better examples of him cherry picking than Floyd has done, but I don't create threads about it because I don't really care.

Hatred? How absurd. What on earth does hate have to do with disliking cherry picking and a completely boring style? I hardly think Floyd is growing in popularity because of 'people like me'. I don't think anyone is going to read my posts and think 'God, I'm just going to have to spend 100 dollars on that farce because that Gandalf chap thinks it is a load of toss. I am just not having that!' Though it would fit in with Brock's IQ of 90 prognosis of the situation. Yep, in the last decade about 2 fights have interested me. I wasn't interested in Guerrero, Berto, Marquez, Ortiz, Maidana, Baldomir, none of them. The others were slightly more intriguing, but typically you had a damaged older guy or a green fighter in Alvarez. It's not hate to say that half of the fights were complete hand picks and that the others had very serious question marks surrounding them. The last time Floyd fought someone slick was in 2006. He goes with the style that won't give him problems. And of course lots of money too. Maybe there are very legitimate reasons for not being overly enamoured with Floyd Mayweather, but to resort to the 'Oh, you is just a hater' argument is a very weak one.
Re: Why is Floyd Mayweather able to attract so much attention?
It's a strong argument because it's very well backed up with the money he makes and the popularity he has. I'm not saying that you are influencing others, in saying that there are many people like you that just love to hate him which is why he is so popular. People love to hate him.
Re: Why is Floyd Mayweather able to attract so much attention?
Miles starts a thread about a fraud who is hated by everyone, wondering how he gets so much attention...!!!
I love it!
