The US will ALWAYS be a power in boxing. We have to many people and to many facilities for us not to be.
Remember I did it so you wouldn't have to ;)
Back at ya'.
Re: US no boxing power anymore!
Damn! With all these good US fighters, can I get that all-boxing network now?
Re: US no boxing power anymore!
Am I being a pessimist?
All those fighters aren't really the next coming? heh
Do any of those fighters have the "look" to become great?
Like a young Mayweather? Granted Mayweather's talent is rare.
I'm willing to say I am ignorant. That is why I'm asking you, because Demetrius Hopkins and Jason Litzau, to me.... look so beatable. :toothout:

Did you see the Litzau fight on ESPN Classic the other night? That's the only fight I've seen of his, but it looks like he needs some defence? Has he gotten better? Because he won, but he probably would have been KOd if the other guy was a finisher.
Re: US no boxing power anymore!
On Litzau, his fights are exciting and he does have skill. I have no problem being a future fan of his, but I just have this feeling he's going to be laid out. haha By someone who can take advantage of his defense.
I mean, Oscar de la Hoya looked amazing when he was coming up. So did Roy Jones Jr.
How about Pernell Whitaker? ??? Even Fernando Vargas looked amazing when young. Sugar Ray Leonard? George Foreman, who's having a controversial thread, as we type. Am I hatin'? heh Or am I expecting too much from U.S. ? Or am I not noticing the hidden talents, just as Hopkins was when he was young.
Mentioning fighters from California is cheating. ;D Because I KNOW many talents are coming from there. And forget about the East Side, who's best representative now is Zab Judah. heheh
Re: US no boxing power anymore!
How about Escobedo he could be the next great American boxer.

Yeah!! your right, Jason is a crazy kid who likes to live on the fwocken edge of life, he said in a interview hes "high on life" ;D
His idol is Arturo Gatti and said if he could do what Gatti has done for boxing inside the ring (meaning the wars he had) he would be very satisfied with himself. He said when he steps into the ring he want's to give the people what they paid for a "show" (not always a good idea) as he himself said he got sloppy in the ring in that fight and wanted to give the fans a show. He said he learned his lesson but it's hard to back down once hes trading in the ring.
So will see what turns out.
Oh! yeah!! left these guys out
Yusaf Mack
Steve Cunningham
Felix Cora Jr.

Ahggh, your right!!!
cc in 24, for putting me against ropes. ;)
But a majority of these future American fighters, who are good, are coming from Latino communities. Even Shane Mosley benifited from Southern L.A. I mean... boxing is important to those places, very competitive.
Or am I imagining this? Or maybe I'm biased because I see many young fighters spar there, via Maxboxing.com membership, so I keep track of them easier. East Side U.S.'s prospect Jaidon Codrington was apart of best KO by ring magazine, except he was on the wrong end of it. And I just don't think D. Hopkins has it, mentally, but that's just my opinion. I just think the rest of U.S. is too focused on the rest of sports, even hockey.
Wild Card gym baby! :D I'm going to visit that place, next time I go to Cali. ;)
p.s. I'm not Mexican. heh

;D no worries, just thought maybe you had seen an ubeatable prospect ;)
I also think a lot of up and comers, land here in So. Cal. because of the facilities that are here.
Wild Card is just the begining. La Brea Boxing Club, Solid Rock, Bell Gardens Boxing Gym, LA Boxing Club, Glendale PAL Boxing Gym, Bomb Squad Gym, La Habra Boxing Club, Hollywood Boxing Gym, ODLH Boxing Youth Center, Maywood Boxing Club, Teamsters Boxing Club
Re: US no boxing power anymore!
Of course the US is a boxing power, but the Cubans are still the best fighters in the world !!
Re: US no boxing power anymore!
Yeah because 30 year olds are fighting teenagers everywhere else.
Re: US no boxing power anymore!
To say the US is no longer a boxing power is foolish 8)
