Re: Pacquiao vs Matthysse
Have come to appreciate Manny more. Always had the feeling Matthysse was being positioned with trinket in tow for bigger fight opponent role. Totally respect the man and love his style but he's taken his own damage over last few fights and frankly Manny has more room to fall when talking 'done'. I mean hell Manny is coming of a very arguable L. His timing and footwork still look enough to handle ever dangerous Matthysse. Besides..Kuala Lumpur ???.
Re: Pacquiao vs Matthysse
Pac is on a retirement, cash-out phase of his career. This fight does not help either of them. Pac is just done now.
Re: Pacquiao vs Matthysse
Anyone hear whom will air the fight
Re: Pacquiao vs Matthysse
I have no issues with this one. Both are past their best. Let them duel it out.

Saw mention of ESPN ppv version. Of course many already have ESPN ppv..it's called 3 channels on cable :p. Arum trying to scrape the marrow from the bone again. Not sure how big time difference will work out.
Re: Pacquiao vs Matthysse
I have given up on Pac. Great career but it's over. Bob Arum is still not done milking all he can from this once great champion.

Thanks strange I was searching and couldn't find TV schedule
Re: Pacquiao vs Matthysse
Manny finally cut ties with Roach ???. Hell is freezing over.
Re: Pacquiao vs Matthysse
I think that is very uncool of Pac to cut off Roach like that. Roach helped to mold him into the fighter he became and that deserves a little loyalty.
Re: Pacquiao vs Matthysse
He definitely blindsided him from what it sounds like. Has to be more to it.
Re: Pacquiao vs Matthysse
Sounds like a battle of the aging achilles heels. Last time out, Matthysse looks dismal against a young kid who carried big at the weight and used his jab... Till he pulled a ko out of his @$$ .. that many people questioned whether or not the kid was taking a dive. I've always been a big fan of Matthysse and maybe there was a slight drop off as he got used to his new trainer, shook ring rust etc. but I think Lucas was slowly losing his passion for the sport before the postol loss. His chins probably not what it was before either.
Pac has always looked a tad predictable to me but the beauty of his style was that roach taught him how to punch in between his opponents punches. His last time out he showed little of that though he maintained his in and out footwork. He managed to get caught by a slow sloppy billy-goating horn who look to just weather the storm and bull him around the ring.
If this fight ever materialized i always saw pac just being too fast for Lucas to time. Now, he's probably still faster than Lucas expects him to be but very linear and easier to time. Pac doesn't have his pop, but Lucas doesn't have his chin. I think Roach was the key for Manny and the Key for Lucas is how bad he wants to keep this belt and whether or not him finally getting the title has renewed his passion. Based strictly on the location, its already leaning toward Manny and Lucas needs a knockout.
Re: Pacquiao vs Matthysse
Manny dropping Roach is a sure fire sign he will pack up his gloves very soon. PAC Man is trying to maximise his last remaining big salaries and Roach will not teach Manny that he does not know already.

Teach, no... remind... well, that something different entirely. With as much time off as pac takes, there's a plenty of rust negligence and oversight that can happen. The question is can the the replacement spot the holes and patch em on the fly.
I also think Manny and roach had a little bit of a rift because roach thought manny should retired and didnt give him a shining review after the last fight. So maybe manny didnt want to pay such a big cut of his salary for anything less than total unwavering ass kissing.

I am not saying what Manny has done is right and you are correct Manny does need to be trained by someone who knows him and will not be a yes man.
Re: Pacquiao vs Matthysse
A case of who has more left in the tank. Pac can probably milk a few more paydays off a win, before running into trouble. Matthysse is just happy to be invited to the table at this stage. There are some variables tho, he will have been inactive for over a year by fight night, no Roach in the corner or training and surrounded by yes men etc. I still think Manny wins this wide.
