I know what you're saying, Miles..... but I'm gonna respectfully disagree. I think a certain amount of restraint comes with the territory when you're a public figure. Sort of a ground rule, I would say. We expect decency and good behavior from our kids' teachers, right? While not the same thing, realize that kids are impressionable and do a lot of TV watching. At what point do we finally scold a public figure for saying something inappropriate on the air or a Tweet? When he/she/hen's finally gone haywire and insulted half of humanity in some incoherent racist, sexist, homophobic rant? Would we THEN push the button and have him/her/hen drop through a trap door on the stage? Being a public figure is both a privilege and a responsibility. There's people hanging on your every word, believe it or not. I don't think it's too much to ask for a little common sense and restraint.

I know what you are saying Tito. None of us would accept it one of our children's teachers started to compare people to orangutans or chimpanzees or gorillas because we wouldn't want our children to start to make the same comparisons ;-) not really sure why but ;-) hahaha

Well kids are going to be cruel by nature. That's just the way it is. But the last thing they need is adults setting examples telling them it's ok to be cruel.

Meh, was a stupid thing to say and not her first. It's Rosanne FFS. They should have seen this coming a mile away. Company considering the sure to happen again shit it will have to shoulder with an individual over a show. I feel worse for all (?) of the original cast who all managed to reboot.

This was the plan. Rosanne agreed to do it. Make a show that would be reported as popular with all trump fans then have the main star make a racist tweet and get the show cancelled which will remind everyone all trump supporters are deplorable racists.

Actually Roseanne balked at first. So show producers contacted Ambien to find out whether racist, sleepy people were given to make racist Tweets.
Then they hired an extra to slip an Ambien in her drink and prodded her with questions like, "So..... what do you think of Valerie Jarrett? Oh... that's peachy! It would make a great Tweet."

Nah, I know people won’t agree with me but ambien works similar to a benzodiazepine. Simlilar to a Xanax. It certainly can loosen lips and if u already have strange things in your head anything can come out. I don’t think stupid comments make someone a racist. I don’t care for Rose, I don’t do sitcoms but as far as I know she made a career out of edgy statements. If the ambien is true, and who knows, I’d give it a pass but I worked in the substance abuse field for years. I’ve seen plenty of people become violent under the influence that showed no sign of violence sober, seen suicide attempts in people who never had a history of it but took one hit of that fake weed shit and attempted it. If ABC thinks canceling the show is proper punishment so be it but I won’t dismiss her for one stupid tweet

Precisely. Like booze, these drugs can work a bit like a polygraph. Shit you've always thought but would never admit to thinking..... just come blurted out. A lot of people with racist thoughts manage to keep them reigned in while sober. But get a couple of drinks in them and that tongue gets on roller skates. ;D Point is yeah it was a stupid comment.... and it highlights what she really thinks. I'm not saying cancel the show or anything..... but she needed to be called out in some way.

I disagree on that Tito. As an expert in the field of alcohol and pills I actually find the opposite is quite true. Some of my finest posting was under the influence of such things and if anything it just made me post wacky shit that a sober me wouldn't really give the time of day to. I also found myself really stooping to the level of the trolls who would torture me. And it also led to an inordinate number of leaving threads. One can tell how well I am by the difference in my posting.

I had to clean myself up. It certainly wasn't me. It was more of a character than anything else. A kind of Mr Hyde that would come out to play.

In other words I think drunks and pill heads do say things they don't mean. Like when I wanted Foreman to get beaten up by Cotto for being a Jew following the Gazan massacre. That was clearly a drunk post and I got accused of being an anti-semite and all kinds of things. Obviously a normal me would wish him no harm, but apparently it reveals how bad a person you are and I am not sure it really does. It just tells you that someone is a piss head.

You don't think being boozed up removes all filters? Well, ok.... it might work differently for different people I guess. I know normally timid people will become all sorts of outgoing when boozed up...... guys who don't dare approach the hot chick in the bar need a few drinks in them before The Approach...... and other examples. Hell..... the classic example: The proverbial closet and those who come out of it after one too many. ;D
