I think Gabriel Byrne and Albert Finney did great in Miller's Crossing which is underrated.
James Caan. Now there's a guy who's done a few Mafia roles and bad guy roles in general. He's a natural.

Old school gangster movies are GOLD.....the original Scarface with Paul Muni...so much better than Pacino's and whatever the fuck Diego Luna is coming out with :shakehead:
Cagney, Robinson, Bogey, they all seemed like actual tough guys not some fancy pants acting school dandy.....granted Robinson was so not used to guns that he blinked every time he shot his pistol lol. But his manner of speech, his actions......the same goes for Bela Lugosi as Dracula, the dude embodied the character and so every character since then has been playing the ACTOR of the role rather than just the role itself that's how honest their performances were.
And George Raft.....what a cool customer that dude was!
