Re: The fights that never were
Why was the Trinidad vs Mosely fight never a "thing"? I would have thought that early and late stages this would have happened.
If Tito fought Vargas he could have fought Mosely at 154... or even when Mosely went to 154 Tito could have fought him when Mosely fought Vargas and/or Mayorga BOTH times.

I think Tito took other big fights at middleweight rather than stay at the weight he started to dominate.

The lure of moving up in weight and conquering other weight divisions... like most great fighters. Started off middleweight with a bang... but then ran into one of the great middleweights of all time.
Re: The fights that never were
Sweat Pea v Ike Quartey would have been nice to see.
Would Pernell Whitaker ever have fought Meldrick Taylor?
Tyson v (motivated) Witherspoon or Dokes

I recall boxing magazines at the time saying Tito was beating a path towards Roy Jones.

If Tito did beat Hopkins and Jones he would have been the greatest ever.

Too much of a kinship with Whitaker and Taylor coming out of the 84' Olympics as team mates and staying that way for a while. Witherspoon may have got Tyson if he didn't lose his trinket to Bonecrusher. After that he was busy stewing over and suing Don King who was never fond of. I think Tim even said he 'threw' the fight to Smith just to get away from King :cwm13:

Yes and I believe Tim because he got blasted by Bonecrusher in one.
Tyson would have had a good competitive fight against Tim before being KO'd.
