Granted he lost but he was against ottke who had been champion for quite some time and mundine was unfit for the fight. But anthony continues to fight 12 rounders and he only has about the same amount fights as JCC jr. Step up kid.
By DQ supposedly, right?Quote:

let him get to about 23 and he'll be ready to contend, he fights regularly and is a good kid, good for boxing...but history tells us it's difficult being a 2nd generation boxer when your pops is successful
There was no 'supposedly' about, he was Dq'd, look at all 80s Ring Record books, Chavez was always listed ?? and 1.Quote:

"For many years all the leading record books, including both Pugilato and The Ring Record Book, recorded the first loss of Julio Cesar Chavez as being by disqualification....
This has since been changed to a knockout victory for Chavez, based on confirmation from the local boxing commission in Culiacan that it altered the verdict the following day.
Ramon Felix, manager of Chavez, happened to be a member of the Culiacan commission at the time."
The A-Z of World Boxing by Bert Blewett (1996) at p. 341.

Pro debut for Chávez
:coolclick: I was wondering the same thing. The record for all of his opponents is 146-116-8 and his last opponent was 8-2. Why is he still fighting 6 rounders and these type of fighters? If they are bringing him along slowly that is fine, but then keep him off of PPV cards. Its not like he needs the exposure, he is JCCjr for crying out loud.
Completely agree.....Thats also why you don't see him ranked in the top 15 of any of the governing bodys cuz hes not their yet and as far I know, no one has said he was something out of this world hes yougster like the rest of the batch except he has a last name that we all know....Quote:

maybe don king and bob arum aren't interested on him yet
He have a feeling they are trying to catch up with dad's record as neat and pretty as possible and make Jr. and Sr. to make some record and father and son.
........................and why on hell he is always fighting on the undercard on some of the best fights that usually shown on tv?
Why not give it to others who needs some exposure.
his father had no notable opponants at that stage of his career either, the kid had no amatuer career, his dad had 1 fight as an amatuer, give him a break, it's not his fault that they're building him up to be this second coming of his father, he has good skills and looks to be getting better as he moves on, he's fighting pretty much every month so give him a break, he'll probably gradually move his way into serious fights by the time he has about 40 + fights or in other words in about 1 and a half to 2 yrs.
Chavez Snr had a lot of tough fights before he broke though against Martinez. Just because the fighter may not have a statistically impressive record, does not mean he is a anything other than a tough fighter. ;)Quote:

This is a rare case where youve got to ignore the record for a while.
JC Chavez had no amateur career to speak of and therefore his trainers are doing the right thing by bringing him along slowly. Now clearly it wasnt the best thing to do not to have an amateur career, that is where a boxer should always develop his skills, but with this mistake already made at least he's not being rushed.
I suppose there's a case to be made for being brought along while earning money, just as long as your not fooling the fans, which I dont see happening to the majority of boxing fans.
I don't like this guy's game at all.
I have seen him fight twice in person and I am not at all impressed. He is being spoon fed as the rest of you have said.
Yeh he's just makin up for a lack of an amatuer career. Nowt wrong with that its not foolin me, i know he has weaknesses...like all fighters. Give him a few years and asses him then. :)Quote:
