Re: Fury v Usyk is on.............!
Speaking to Reuters from his training camp in Valencia, Spain, Usyk said the date should be decided next week.
"It could be February and I would very much like it to be February," he said, through an interpreter.
"I was ready to fight on the 23rd but since Fury got some injuries in the last fight, a knockdown, then probably it will be postponed to next year."
The long-awaited on-off fight would crown the first undisputed champion since Lennox Lewis in 1999 and the first of the four-belt era, and Usyk made clear he would take the delay in his stride.
"I'll just do more technical work. Technically, nothing changes. I just have a little more time for some additional tasks, and that's it," he said.
"I don't think about Tyson Fury at all... I think about myself, about my team, about my family. I don't need to think about my opponent. I just need to be with him, fight and that's it."
"Everything I do today -- my achievements, my victories, my efforts are focused to honour my country and my family," he said.
Usyk fought Anthony Joshua in Jeddah in August last year, retaining his titles in a "Rage on the Red Sea" rematch of the fight in London in September 2021 where he took the Briton's belts, and he carried a nation's hopes with him that night too.
"The first person who was an example for me, and who I wanted to be like and copied his behaviour, was my late father who told me that I could do it," he said.
"When I stood in the circle of the great stars in Saudi Arabia, I looked at the sky and I thought 'I know that you see me where I stand, I know that you see where I am and what I do, and I am grateful to God and to you for motivating me and bringing me here'."
The example of Muhammad Ali, a boyhood hero, provides further inspiration as he seeks to follow in the footsteps of greats.
"A man who fought for what he believed in, fought for his rights, for his loved ones, for the rights of his people, for his faith. And everything he did it for the people, for the world," said Usyk.
The Ukrainian hoped also to play a bigger role in developing the sport.
Usyk has co-founded Ready to Fight , a digital social platform to connect boxers with coaches, managers, agents, sparring partners, sports medicine professionals, promoters, sponsors, and fans.
He said the idea came long ago when he had problems finding reliable sparring partners and adequate training facilities abroad.
"This platform gives far more opportunities for the athlete and a lot fewer opportunities for those that want to deceive them," said Usyk.

You know what. This might actually happen....

Re: Fury v Usyk is on.............!
I just want this dam fight to be over
Due to Fury's dire performance against Ngannou means the Usyk fight has lost a lot of its steam, at least for me. Does anyone really care anymore ? And Usyk didn't exactly look anything special against Dubois. So we are at a point now where it's debatable whether these are even the two best HW's in the world.
I also don't think this fight is going to sell and that's even if it happens because I think there is a 70% chance of Fury pulling out but should it happen I don't see it doing big PPV numbers in the U.S.A.
If it happens ? (And you always have to use the word *if* with this fight) I see Usyk winning EASY. Not because I think Usyk is anything great just that style wise he is all wrong for Fury. Fury is going to have to get himself in the best cardio shape in his life to even have half a chance, but he won't.
Fury was dead tired against Ngannou. If anyone thinks you somehow magically will get into "new" Prime shape in 3 months shape, you don't know a s****.
All of Fury hopes are that he gets away with another cheating of his own. But he will literally needs to get away with a murder type of cheating to even have a chance of coming close to winning that fight. Fury ain't winning that fight purely based on Boxing Skills. He ain't winning this fight by the rules or with a fair referee.
Usyk is going to KO him. I'm telling you all there is zero chance for Fury to stay up with Usyk pace. He is going to be dead tired by the 6th.
Sausage! Ugly little man! Rabbit!"
At todays press conference tyson reminded me of a dog yap-yap-yapping when it's scared. When a dog's gonna seriously attack the usual is just a low throaty growl, then it goes for it.
A yapping dog is a scared dog. So all Tyson's talk is a cover up for him to try and pump himself up bcoz he knows he's in deep here with Usyk......REAL DEEP.
So I don't see it as a competitive fight at all and to the watching viewer that will surprise them.
Re: Fury v Usyk is on.............!
The lack of posts on this - a heavyweight undisputed fight - speaks volumes.
Fury seemed rattled to me. He won't be able to win any mind games as usyk can't understand him anyway.
Not sure how you see Usyk winning easy but it's your opinion.
For me an in shape and focused Fury wins this convincingly. Two of the best boxing brains we've seen and one just much bigger.
And if Fury can't get in shape or focus then he'll find an excuse and withdraw.
That's how i see it right now.
Re: Fury v Usyk is on.............!
Tyson The Nutcase Fury is the man. He will do serious bodily harm to Usyk, serious bodily harm. It will be ugly and gruesome. It will be like a superheavyweight smashing a middleweight. By the 7th round it will all be over and people will be thinking how crazy they were to even dream Usyk could beat The Giant Lunatic.
Re: Fury v Usyk is on.............!
Have Usyk winning a decision here. Sharpness and making muffin-sludge Fury pay a price for his desperation to assert his mass. And I'm not convinced the legs of Fury are what they were. The mentality and confident self-awareness of these two could not be further apart. The schtick and boasting have zero effect on Usyk, Tyson might as well be bumping his head against a brick wall.
Re: Fury v Usyk is on.............!
I'm still going to wait until the 1st bell rings before I get excited for this fight ;)
Re: Fury v Usyk is on.............!
Yeah true.... Wouldn't be surprised if.....but....
Tyson will maul the smaller man, 300 pounds will sap all Usyk energy.... By round 8 or 9 Usyk will be sucking wind like carburetor on a 1969 Chevy Malibu on a hot July afternoon.... Fury will club him into submission as gallant as Usyk will fight, still the size difference will kill Usyk...deep blue sea Round 9, sleep, sleep, the Sandman cometh. Tyson is a scary son of a bitch. Nobody beats him. ATG
Re: Fury v Usyk is on.............!
He told Second Out: 'I never said my son was in decline because he's not.
'It's the people around him who ain't up to much. His training's in decline and his camp's in a bigger decline.
'It's not a camp, it's a circus.'
John Fury added" 'I saw him in the gym in Saudi, watched him spar three or four rounds with a couple of kids - I knew then it was gonna be a hard night's work.
'I thought, "What have you been doing?" I was alarmed, I still am.
'Unless you're gonna get the eye of the tiger back and go back to the old ways and get the hunger back - sweat, blood, s*** and tears.
'Because Usyk's doing that - sweat, blood, s*** and tears.
'And he's got disciplined, professional, great people around him, and I don't think Tyson has that. I really don't.'
Re: Fury v Usyk is on.............!
Fury CLEARLY didn't train for Ngannou.... he was clearly fat and sloppy looking. Even for his standard.
