Re: 1 year ban - Ryan Garcia - Pathetic
Devin Haney has announced his intention to take further legal action against Ryan Garcia.
Garcia floored Haney three times and beat him by unanimous decision on April 20, however this result has now been overturned.
The victor tested positive for banned PED ostarine in three separate drugs tests taken around the fight.
On Thursday, he agreed a settlement with the New York Commission over the situation.
Garcia has received a one-year ban from boxing as a result of this, with the Haney fight being overturned from a win to a no-contest.
Haney's undefeated 31-0 record has officially been restored, however he is not completely happy with the outcome.
Earlier this week, the WBC held a purse bids auction for Haney's potential next fight - an ordered mandatory defence against Sandor Martin.
Bob Arum's Top Rank were the only bidders and won with a bid of just $2.42million, meaning Haney will get $1.53million if he moves forward with this bout next.
That is a significant reduction from what he earned not only in the Garcia fight, but in several of his fights before it took place.
As a result, Haney is now arguing that his commercial value and potential future earnings have taken a dramatic hit as a direct result of Garcia's controversial overturned victory in their fight.
“My lawyers will do what they've gotta do to prove that in court against Ryan," Haney told Title Sports Network.
"We will take legal action because it has affected me - not only financially, but mentally and everything."
Haney also alleges that he has suffered mentally from the fallout.
Upon seeing these quotes, Garcia took to social media to attack Haney once again.
He tweeted on Friday night: "There is no damn way, no I’m being sued for hurting Devil Haney feelings. Softest man ever created this crazy don’t know Bill Haney's sperm was like this."
Haney replied: "We can settle out of court.. what u offering?"
Time will tell if the pair end up having a rematch in the ring or the courtroom.

Re: 1 year ban - Ryan Garcia - Pathetic
There was never any money in the Sandor Martin fight :-\
I saw Garcia playing poker
He is a very annoying person :(
Re: 1 year ban - Ryan Garcia - Pathetic
If your last name is Garcia or Alvarez and you get caught cheating taking PEDS expect a 6-12 month ban.
It now actually seems worth taking PEDS for the big money fights.
There is zero deterrent anymore.
I would have loved to have given props to Ryan for beating Haney but he has potentially ruined his career with this tainted win.

Spot on with all points.
Can't say I share on the last paragraph, cause I was actually hoping Haney would knock him out. But other than that I agree on all counts.

Caught some of that and literally acting like the antsy toddler at the adults dinner table. Couple of players looked perturbed with the antics but that could just be the knowledge of a known unapologetic cheat sitting next to you with high stakes on the line. Also joked about it earlier but he looks to be bordering on small middleweight.
It’s going to be a very long span of spiraling down.

i think it's worse if a guy is caught & is allowed to fight. the commissions are to blame & the promoters for booking them to fight. you are right there is zero deterrent. they may have given devin back his zero but they can't erase him getting splattered all over the ring
Re: 1 year ban - Ryan Garcia - Pathetic
Garcia totally outclassed him
Re: 1 year ban - Ryan Garcia - Pathetic
There’s no way of knowing if Garcia would have ever beaten Haney in the pro ranks.
PED enhanced his hook, chin and stamina.
Haney not continuing with his career and fighting Martin reflects the mental trauma.
Expect another payout when Haneys lawyers sue Garcia for loss of earnings.
Re: 1 year ban - Ryan Garcia - Pathetic
You know you've hit full blazing train wreck when even the wbc expels you. Garcia is the art and perfection of torpedoing your own career. Not just ring career. Well beyond the point of 'ah he just selling the fight' delusional nonsense. It really is a slow-motion car crash on a 24-7 loop.
Re: 1 year ban - Ryan Garcia - Pathetic
Ryan Garcia has been "expelled" by the WBC after using racial slurs and Islamophobic language on social media.
The American, who last month was banned for a year from boxing following an anti-doping violation, made the comments on X's spaces platform, which allows people to have live audio conversations.
WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman said in a statement: "Exercising my authority as president of the WBC, I am hereby expelling Ryan Garcia from any activity with our organisation.
"We reject any form of discrimination."
In a since deleted post on X, Garcia, 25, wrote: "I was trolling, I want all the killing to stop. I love everyone, sorry if I offended you."
The American has not responded to the WBC's expulsion.
After Garcia was handed a one-year doping ban by the New York State Athletic Commission, Sulaiman said the WBC would not issue its own suspension or "punish" him because of concerns about his mental health.
It was not immediately clear what the expulsion from the WBC would entail. BBC Sport has asked the WBC for comment.
Garcia failed multiple drug tests around his fight with Devin Haney in April.
As well as a one-year ban, Garcia's upset victory over former undisputed lightweight champion Haney was overturned to a no-contest.
Garcia's family released its own statement saying his comments "do not align with his, or our family's, true character or beliefs".
"Our family unequivocally does not support any statements [Garcia] has made regarding race or religion -- these do not reflect who Ryan truly is and how he was raised," the statement added.

So is it safe to say PrincessRy is no longer the "Face of Boxing"? :D
Re: 1 year ban - Ryan Garcia - Pathetic
Sad and Pathetic figure. I honestly don’t think that a guy who is as mentally deranged as he is lives to see 40.

Probably feel slighted he shunned being their next Charlo crutch-case. At this point I really do doubt the future return. He has yet to hit bottom, at least one he'll acknowledge. Remember those old film reels of a plane being shot down? Flames trailing pieces sparking off, the whirl sound into a downward spiral. There he is.
Re: 1 year ban - Ryan Garcia - Pathetic
A brazen, audacious youngster, with tremendous talent, he should be given a couple years suspension and then at 25 or so to be given another chance.
