basically, what we can learn is todays heavyweights arent conditioned well, they wouldnt last 3 weeks in the TA i can tell you
yes they would, these are the best boxers in the world............their training are intense to say the least.
obviously you dont understand how tough it is to be a soldier, take james phoney, 237 pounds and hes dead short
i myself am 6 foot and 180 lbs, no fat on me, my mates in the TA some of them are 6 foot 2 or more and more muscular then you can imagine and they would probably be world champions if they wanted to be, thats how conditioned they are
well, ok most heavyweights are terrible these days....
But the best conditioned atlethes are in the lower weights
precisely
look at brian hopkins for example
45 years old or whatever and was world champion until that man beat him who was much younger, some of the TA instructors are in their 40s and i tell you what you wouldnt pick a fight with them!
personally i dont box but some of the lads do, they have taught me some boxing movements and they reckon my style is like mike tysons and not cos i hit women lol (never have hit a women but if i was on duty and she needed to be taken out, i wouldnt hesitate, i mean in the TA you cant hesitate or its life or death)
i am trained in unarmed combat tho so if a boxer attacked me i could do some specail moves and cripple them, in theory lol one time i did get punched on the nose when we were messing around and it hurt bad my eyes watered and everyone thought i was crying! i wasnt i laughed and kicked him in the shin lol it was all bruised afterwards
were bloody nutters in the TA mate lol
Well captain manwering, if you likke Brian Hopkins I bet you hate German Taylor ;D

Heh heh heh. I was going to get him on that one...but honestly...I refuse to touch this one with a 10' pole. ;D

He fought three minutes a round. Included defense and head movement in his relentless offense. Always trained well.
He's like a grumpy uncle talking about the old times. :detective:
But in this instance, I just have to agree with him. Boxing is the best sport, but I just have to agree, ok?
Re: Fraizer is a hard man to impress
VerbotenerKonig Joe was pretty good Im sorry gotta disagree there are many whod beat him but that has alot to do with size joe was a small man but was never the same after beating ali the first time. If all guys could be competiv ein profesional boxing fighting who were great soldiers they would be, you could train like a madman and never have the athletic ability of someone. Try not to be arrogant Im glad you are military man so was I but I have learned things as far as conditioning and fighting in the martial arts far beyond what i did in the military. A navy seal for example is bad ass and in unreal shape but that still does not translate into fighting, while thell wipe the floor with an average Joe against someone who only fights and does that for a living he will lose, a soldier is trained to be well rounded not the king of one trade, if you face the best in anything you will lose,

Joe Frazier is and always will be a warrior, Joe stayed on top of you every second of every rd. Thats why his career was so short, because he fought so hard and intense. It was a little sad seeing him on the bag, but remember Joe's 65 yrs old, and to the Dickhead that posts Frazier was'nt that good, your an idiot mate!! And if your buddies could be world champs, why ain't they? And it takes alot more then being in shape to being a world champ.

Spot on Atomic Bull - Frazier was (and still is) as hard as nails and he wouldn't have been impressed by a lot of young pros today (he really did come up the hard way). Cool click - ignore that other prick.
Re: Fraizer is a hard man to impress
Joe Frazier was a fighter who always came forward and threw punches. I have to agree with him. These guys who throw one or two punches and clinch are very boring to watch and their skill level in questionable.

Yes, Joe is certainly right when he insists that boxing is a form of entertainment, and a boxer's got an obligation not only to fight to win but also to captivate boxing fans.
I was a little disappointed that he failed to make a single complimentary remark about Andre Berto. How do you think that Berto feels? Maybe he doesn't care or he didn't know that Frazier was even paying attention, but Frazier is an all-time great who also has responsibilities to boxing fans and young boxers. I would have preferred that he set an example by at least giving Berto a mild compliment for clean fighting and skilled boxing. Not every boxer is capable of just wading in and knocking people out with a big left hook or a collection of heavy body shots.
Berto:

won convincingly and showed a good array of jabs and hooks. He's on balance all the time, fast for a welterweight or light middleweight, and fights with a clean style. What more can you ask from a fighter?

Thats my man!!!Andre"Mike"Berto, this kid can do it all, box, slug with you(a bad idea), I have seen him stop bigger men with 20oz gloves on wit bodyshots, It's ashame this last guy did'nt want to fight, because thats when K.O'S happen during exchanges, and Berto would have been able to really show out!! WATCH OUT FOR HIM!!!
Re: Fraizer is a hard man to impress
sorry fellas.i know this is nothin to do with the post. but i'm a student who happens to be in the TA. and this TA geezer must be fuckin about, cos i dont know him but from what i've gathered i've dropped and knocked out better blokes than this fanny. i could almost bet my life on me knocking this bloke who has never actually boxed out. that is unless he did'nt sonic snake choke slam me first. dunno where he learned that in the sappers either.

Apparently it's where heavyweight champions go to train but never actually turn pro ??? ;D Or maybe it's too intense for pro fighters to even join. None of todays HW's could last 3 weeks in the TA, lol... I have no idea what it is either but that's just fukin funny. Who cares if they couldn't. I suppose his TA pals could last 8 weeks in training camp at the Kronk Gym..
