Larry Holmes vs. Gerry Cooney was one of the biggest closed-circuit/pay-per-view productions in history, broadcast to over 150 countries.
Chamiley, I have Legendary Nights on tape. Larry didn't say Cooney made $20 million. The commentator said the fight GROSSED more than $20 million. There was no ppv back then, only closed circuit, for which fighters did not get a percentage of. And just for the record, at that time the biggest single pay day for any athlete in history was Sugar Ray Leonard the year earlier, when he earned $12 million for his fight against Hearns. Sorry but Cooney didn't make no $20 mil. By the way, here's another source saying he didn't even make $3 mil.

Imagine if DLH knocks Floyd out, picks up the mic and says, "Thanks everyone, I retire"
That would be Huuuuuge
That would not only be huuuuge, and would be freaking awesome.
