Re: Castillo Weighs in at 140; Fight Cancelled.
Simply put, he can't make the weight anymore, it's not his weihgt class anymore, losing the weight would just drain him and make him weaker. He shouldn't fight at 135 anymore because he can't make the weight. It's not his weight anymore, 140 is apparently. Simply put just as Corrales said that he knows Castillo can't make the weight anymore so he doubts there will be a fight he is right.
And whats with all these people saying Castillo is a cheater? If his body can't make weight anymore his body can't make weight anymore, simple as that. It's not like he WANTED to come in at 140 and have the right called off. He may have tried his hardest to make 135 and it didn't happen.

And for the record he should know that with that extra weight he could seriously injur Coralles who has been in a lot of wars already. If I was Coralles i wouldnt get in the ring with that discrace. One pound over is too many, but 5....thats ridiculous and unfair to Coralles, and the fans if he even has any left

Re: Castillo Weighs in at 140; Fight Cancelled.
How the hell does a guy as light as that come in five pounds over....It's one thing if Valuev comes in at 5 pounds over 23 stone, but when you're 2 or 3 % of your body weight over, then it would have been picked up days ago. Did he forget what day it was and have his six eggs, two packs of bacon pack of sausages and a whole black pudding by mistake. It's like 8 or 9 mice over the weight to put it into som,e bizarre perspective.
It is damn unprofessional, as well as being idiotic. If he's that much over the weight, he is going to know it, so to turn up, and act all surprised that he's over the weight won't wash with anyone. I think Corrales has every right to call it off, because even if the titles aren't on the line, it could still be an L in his column, and that extra weight could give Castillo the advantage.
What was Corrales' reaction when he weighed in 5 pounds over, I'd have gone nuts and attcked him on the scales. It's just so out of order its unbelievable.

He made 138 for Reyes. He couldn't make 139 for Corrales. He claimed he was at 139 on Monday, he weighed in at 140. He didn't report troubles in camp or concerns about making weight in camp, and lashed out against reporters because they kept asking. Well? Sorry. I'm usually the first to take a fighters side over out of the ring things, but I have 0 sympathy for Castillo. He gets everything he has coming to him.

Re: Castillo Weighs in at 140; Fight Cancelled.
Dan Rafeal just said Corrales is beside himself in his hotel room.

Re: Castillo Weighs in at 140; Fight Cancelled.
Did you ever consider that since before the first Mayweather fight Castillo has had MAJOR problems making 135 and that his body simply can't do it anymore ??? Or are you assuming he cheated and just came in 140 for the hell of it after months of training and trying to get it down ::**

Didn't say to have sympathy. And if he made 138 for Reyes(originally supposed to be Corrales which he could get to 35) Then why would he NOT want to come in 135 for this one? I'm pretty sure he worked very hard and his body just won't do it anymore. I don't think he has it planned.

Re: Castillo Weighs in at 140; Fight Cancelled.
Corrales is a class act for even dealing with this sob. He has given him respect and even supported with him in during situation last time. Now in the twilight of his career(IMO) he is getting robbed of time, hard work at the gym, and a great trilogy that could define his career.

I never heard of these troubles versus Mayweather. He weighed in at 134 for that fight ::** And if his body can't do it then he needs to tell. He kept quiet, hell he boldface lied to reporters on Monday and told them to get off his back about the weight. He never expressed any concerns for the weight issue and assured everyone countless times that he would make it easily, he just had rib problems for the second fight.

SRKO then you didn't look. it's a known he even had trouble making weight for Mayweather, it was on him that he had to train in 3 pairs of sweats during sparring during the training and there was always talk of him moving up. he had trouble making Lightweight even before that first Mayweather fight.
And as you said, he made 138 for Reyes, and that was supposed to be Corrales which he probably would have melted down the pounds to make 135 for that fight. If he would have made it then, why not now because he CAN'T. When he signed the contracts there was probably little doubt to him that he would make the weight, he just can't do it. I'm not saying NOT to comedown on him, but don't make it seem like he premeditated this from the day he signed the contracts!

Maybe not from day 1, but until I hear a damn good explanation, I don't think he had any intentions to fight this fight.

When was this?
And sorry but Juan Diaz is no consolation. It's bullshit and EVERYONE in the Castillo camp should be hiding their head in shame. They fucked everyone over and there is no debating that.

Re: Castillo Weighs in at 140; Fight Cancelled.
This was in preperation before Corrales injured his rib. Showtime did a live interview with him and they asked him if he was confident and Corrales said he was extremely confident because he doubts there will be a fight. And then it carried on. It was before the third fight but before he injured his rib and Castillo had to fight Reyes.

Starr is not a dude, so calm down. Now...Son of a bitch! MotherFukin Castillo!!! I am a big Castillo fan, but DAMNIT! DAMN YOU! How can you not at least lose two pounds? Piss or Shat it out man. Now the fukin fight is off!?? That sucks. >:mad I still cant believe the fight is actually 100% off. I mean it can't be.

Funny seeing as how today he said he expected him to weigh in at the weight. I feel TERRIBLE for Corrales. The poor dude was nearly in tears. If you are registered to boxingscene.com they have a video. He is furious, and basically echoes the same sentiment that we have been here.

I think he was saying it to hype the fight. Thats around the same time I said I was starting to dislike Corrales because he was talking shit about Castillo and the weight issues. He said it on a LIVE BROADCAST on SHOWTIME if anyone disbelieves me.
But he was pretty right.

I'm pretty sure they talked to him at the Baldomir Judah card(via sattelite) and talked to him about his fight against Castillo the next month and that he said just that.

Re: Castillo Weighs in at 140; Fight Cancelled.
Starr, I saw Judah-Baldomir live, Corrales never said this.

Re: Castillo Weighs in at 140; Fight Cancelled.
just heard about castillo coming in overweight. this is a disgrace, to do it twice in a row is intolerable especially after the controversy surrounding the last fight....
-
Re: Castillo Weighs in at 140; Fight Cancelled.
This is a big blow for boxing Castillo whether intentionally or not cheated boxing fans. He has lost more respect in this situation than he would have if he would have lost the fight. I would be lying if I said I didn't want to see him against cotto or hatton but if he is suspended it would be justified

this is total b*llsh*t.....he has known for awhile that he couldn't make the weight...you don't just wake up one morning and "Oh sh*t I need to lose weight for my championship fight that's TODAY!!!!" This is the second time he has ruined it for Corrales....He needs to be suspended for at least a year.and fined..his actions are as if he could give a rats a** whether or not he makes weight....

Re: Castillo Weighs in at 140; Fight Cancelled.
Castillo needs to be punished, even the most ardent JLC fan must admit this >:mad. He made weight for the Reyes fight,he lied and kept saying he would make weight for this one and he cheated Chico Corrales and the fans,us,everyone. He's a disgrace and so too is his camp >:mad! I hope he does not get a chance to fight Cotto but I feel he will, there's too much money to be made there for Arum for it not to be made. I personally feel the second fight should not have gone ahead either >:mad, but Chico thought with his heart instead of his brain. I feel for Diego...... :-\

I doubt Corrales is dumb enough to make the same mistake twice....he got KTFO the last time he let his pride get in the way of business...and the business is Castillo has none to challenge for a title he is no longer in that weight class....If he goes through with the fight and loses the titles should be stripped from him and their needs to be a mandatory #1 vs #2 title fight...no more of this non title because I want to make money BS...the titles deserve better....

Re: Castillo Weighs in at 140; Fight Cancelled.
He must have known about it beforehand, as he has sweated weight off enough times in his career that he knows exactly how much he is physically able to lose without making himself unwell, henc he knows what his weight should be before the weigh in. He said he weighed 139, which is doable to get to 135, but he is either lying or telling the truth but has made no effort to lose any weight at all. I am mega dissappointed, but even more so because he must have known about this a hile ago and he should hae said something so a catchweight could be agreed, or another opponent could be found. As i he has cheated chico out of money and training time. What an ARSEHOLE

Re: Castillo Weighs in at 140; Fight Cancelled.
A 6 foot man can barely make that weight and still be able to walk around and think straight... How long was it going to be before a man of Castillo's size couldn't possibly make the weight?
Its a shame the fight is off... but you are all acting like Castillo tried to cheat and did it on purpose... his mind said he could make the weight and his body couldn't.
How many parts can you take out of a car before it won't move? You're all (too) emotional over this but you need to get clued up on what it's like for a man of Castillo's size to get that light... time after time after time... you can't do it for ever... if it was easy there would be no fat people in the world.
(no I'm not a castillo fan, barely know a thing about him, but when I see a fellow boxer being torn apart and called worse than shite by people who have expectations for him to meet that they don't understand I have to speak out... click away)
-
Re: Castillo Weighs in at 140; Fight Cancelled.
Look, IMO he would have known well before showing up at the scales that he wasn't going to make that weight. Walking from the gym to the weigh-in is not going to magically lose 4 lbs, after all that work he should have been doing to drop those last few pounds. It's not the fact that he didn't make the weight, though that is pretty bad, its the fact that he shows up at the weigh-in, expecting Corrales to give him a second fight over the weight, and Corrales was totally right not to give him a second fight with the advantage Castillo would have.
Next opponent Castillo fights should definitely do what Johnson tried to do to Calzaghe, and demand money up front, to either force Castillo to make the weight or he'll lose out in the wallet, even more than he did this time out.

:o
this is bullcrap!!!! >:mad
damn it!!!
i waited so long for this fight!!
i bet castillo intentionally did it because hes so afraid of corrales's power!!!
and he thinks that if he do what he did in the 2nd fight he will ko him again!!!
he also thought that the nevada state commision will let em fight and just make it
non title fight!!!
what he cares about is the money and the confidence that he can ko corrales again!!!
now to make him pay,,,
he must not earn a single cent from this 'fight' and banned him from boxing!!!
p.s.
give the money to corrales's team.
he deserves it. ;)

The thing I fault Castillo for is NOT being honest with everyone he had to of known if he wasnt gonna make weight and so did his camp....Was he hoping Diego would fight anyway like he did last time and have a better chance of winning????I certainly dont know but I do Know is that there it was very unprofessional and he should be held accountable for his actions, and it put Diego on the spot he had an extremely short time to make a desicion that should take days to make....CASTILLO LOST A LOT OF CREDIBILITY AND SHOULD FACE A FINE AND SUSPENSION

Your argument isn't relevant at all. The thing isn't about Castillo cheating or not. Castillo, deep down in his heart, knew he couldn't make that weight, he hasn't made 135 in more than a year, but HE F****** SIGNED THE CONTRACT!!! That's what everyone is mad about. So if so you said that you were gonna buy some underprivledged kids some computers, and then turned around and said that you just didn't have the money. Don't the kids have and parents have a right to be mad? The same principle applies here. He didn't live up to his word. Corrales loses out on the 1.2 million payday that be probably needs.
-
Re: Castillo Weighs in at 140; Fight Cancelled.
Why did he HAVE to know? if he is to be beleived, he only failed the last time because of a rib injury which stopped him training for 2 weeks.
This time he had the prospect of an uniterupted camp and full rest from the last bout (you try starving yourself down to 135 pounds after a long training camp, fighting a hard 10 round war and then having to make that weight again in a matter of months... they may seem fine in a post fight interveiw... or when they get their hands lifted but you have no idea what the pain is like once the adrenalin leaves they're system... toe to toe fights take something out of you, esspecially miles from your natural weight).
He beleived he could make the weight, he failed and now he is being critised and having unfair accusations made against him because people have no idea how high the goals they make for fighters actually are.

So are you saying that Castillo shouldn't be punished? Boxing is trying to come back to the fore front and boxers not making weight doesn't help. When was the last time you saw a fight of this caliber called off because of weight. It's bullshit. You can defend this guy all you want, but you're not watching a great fight because Castillo's inability to live up to his word. TWICE IN A ROW!!! So how should boxing fans react smart guy? Boxing fans should be livid. And I'm tired of hearing talk about Castillo's inability to make weight, if it was so hard to make weight and that grueling, then he should have seriously thought about that before SIGNING THE CONTRACT!!! He shouldn't just get a free shot to try and make weight. People need to be held accountable for their word that what contracts are for. Corrales needs the money, Corrales is taller, Corrales drained himself for the fight too. Corrales made weight, how the fuck does Castillo deserve any sympathy.
-
Re: Castillo Weighs in at 140; Fight Cancelled.
you're obviously too upset to properly dicuss this... I don't remember saying that boxing fans (fight fans... ::** as a boxing fan I am happy that Castillo is not fighting at a weight he couldn't reach with millions of dollars infront of him... thats how fighters get brain damage, he's as low as he can go) should be happy about it or that he shouldn't be penalised... What I am saying is that its unfair to go for his Jugular and call him a liar and a cheat... ::**
And he signed to make the weigh despite how hard it is because he had the mental tougness to do it when his body would allow it... if boxers didn't take challenges or do anything that was tough or grueling... there would be no boxing... come back when you have a better understand of Anatomy, diet and training and when you are not so up that you are unable to discuss this and comprehend what I am saying.
