Is it a British thing or what? If so, I guess that I could understand but otherwise...... :banghead:
........ there must be atleast 20 fighters with a very real claim to be top 10 all time
A good point....I can agree with that.

My issue with him is that the man got credit for having great timing....In other words he beat a Tsyon who in every sense of the word wasn't even close to the same person.
His tidious victories over an old Holyfield (still not convinced about the second fight) who had struggled with Vaughn Bean in the previous match and had pretty much seen his last convincing fight 3 years before with Tyson, were very unimpresssive to me as well.
I give him lots of credit though for the nature in which he beat Ruddock, Golota, and Grant, and the fact that he had the guts to step into the ring with the guys who KOed him

What does everybody else think?? I'm sure this is a debateable thread. You can argue about a few names on my list. But most of them go without saying!
you have drank from the kool-aid well once too often....Marciano, Louis, Ali, Johnson(maybe) I could see on a top 10 list...but the others....are you serious....put the pipe down and walk away....

Tommy as much as i liked him is no top 10 material,
Same with Ike,
Golata is nowhere near the top,
Holyfield is one of my faves ever but he simply isnt the best Heavy of all time.
How wrong you are! Golota had a jab that went unmatched by any of the heavyweight greats! Look what he did to Riddick Bowe and the answer is clear. Andrew Golota would of walked right through most of boxing's greatest heavyweights. And Tommy Morrison had a left hook that went unmatched by any other heavyweight great. Like I said this is a debatable thread and I welcome all opinions. Just don't insult me and put me down like benjamindallas554 does on other boards.
uh yea...am i on acid? golota and tommy top 10 all time? :lolhaha:
seems like they both fought LL (who isnt in your top ten). lets see what happened. oyea! golata got COMPLETELY ko'd in about 30 seconds. Tommy hung in there for what? 4 rounds and then was looking like byrd after the wlad fight (aka...blood) (then he tested positve for hiv, i bet ll was a bit worried).
Re: Top Ten Greatest Heavyweights of all Time!
hers mine. most more reasonable than the 1st one.
1. Lennox Lewis
2.Ali
3.Evander
4.Tyson
5.Larry Holmes
6.George
7.Frazier
8.Bowe (well he should have been)
9.VK (sorry)
10. "the beast from the east!" :o just kidding.........................
Re: Top Ten Greatest Heavyweights of all Time!
dude........wow....thought it was a joke till i saw his 2nd post.........did u se what lamon brewster did to golata....i kno he was older but all the other guys who should be on there were winning huge fights that old
Re: Top Ten Greatest Heavyweights of all Time!
here is my top ten .
1. Muhammed Ali
2. Joe Luis
3. Lennox Lewis
4. George Foreman
5. Mike Tyson
6. Larry Holmes
7. Joe Frazier
8. Floyd Patterson
9. Sonny Liston
10. Evander Holyfield
I haven't put marciano here because the best opponents he beat where out of their prime , if you say we should put marciano in the top 10 then we should put valuev to there after another 10 wins without loosing.
Re: Top Ten Greatest Heavyweights of all Time!
Re: Top Ten Greatest Heavyweights of all Time!
foreman was way stronger than ali. he was a monster, even to people like smokin' joe and ken norton who were powerful mo-fo's themselves. but what gets me behind ali 1000 days out of 1000 over foreman is that he did it with skill, and also heart. foreman-lyle was supendous, but it was ugly. ali was sweet, skilled, fast. i have never necessarily been for the underdog, but when it comes to skill and speed versus brute power, and a fine right lead by the way, then i will take the skill and speed any day. don't you agree?

If we're basing on Accomplishments and not potential how can Tyson be rated above Holyfield?...since a supposedly shot holyfield was hand picked as a sacrificial lamb for Tyson and spanked him???...Don't go with the "youngest champ in history" boloney because then you'd have to consider his loss to the C rated Douglas as a prime fight...this is just Tyson nuthugging...Tyson above Holmes, Frazier, Liston and marciano?!?!? ...ridiculous...question how long did Tyson reign as the "Undisputed Champ"?
Regarding Marciano...he fought the best talent available and like Holmes fought during a time were he did not have great fighters to cement his legacy...but you have Joe Louis at number 2(which I don't dispute) and Lewis' opposition was just as weak...Joe lost to Ezzard Charles who he outweighed by over 30 lbs! and Patterson, what justifies his place on that list?
1. Muhammed Ali
2. Joe Luis
3. Jack Dempsey
4. Sonny Liston
5. Larry Holmes
6. George Foreman
7. Rocky Marciano
8. Joe Frazier
9. Evander Holyfield
10. Lennox Lewis
