Re: Tarver: Hopkins poll time...get those votes and opinions in!!!!
One thing I agree on is that Tarver ALWAYS tires out in the last 2-3 rounds. It's a sure thing. And losing all that weight, I can only guess, and hope, that he will tire out maybe even a little sooner. I see the fight bein a stale mate up untill that point, possible with Tarver winning even, definately on that piss head Ledderman's card any way. But around the 9th round I see Bernard start pickin up the pace, countering Tarver, workin on the inside, and putting a hurting on him. Bernard Hopkins is the better fighter, he may be smaller, but he is for sure the superior boxer. He will win this fight on points, it's just a matter of whether or not the judges will let him.

I truly hope you're right mate, though I can see the merits of both boxers, and lmost important is that its a good fight. If B-Hop goes out with a dull points win or a defeat, it will reflect badly on a great career, and he deserves a fight with some true fireworks, and something really competitive to show that he still has it in him, even if it is against someone who is fighting that same old enemy as him...age.

CC to you too. I also hope I am right. ;D As big of Hopkins fan as I am though, honestly I could stomach a dull points win as you call it. But if Bernard could some how pull it out and even knock Tarver down, late in the fight with one of those counter rights a la the Robert Allen fight, boy would I be happy as hell! Let alone if he could put him down for the count or TKO him. Most likely I see a Hopkins win on points after a chess match. But if either of the above happens, I will be one happy SOB. Let's go Bernard, I know you can do it man. :)

I thought that it was funny on the hbo countdown special of Bernard Hopkins and Antonio Tarver where they were showing Bernard training with
Mackie Shilstone with the rubber tubes, and Mackie called a foul on Bernard
Hopkins. That S*** was funny.
B-Hop will win it in the late rounds though.
just watched that last night....that Mackie is a little out there....

He stayed active all throughout 2005, fighting 36 rounds and really looking impressive.
I'm making Hopkins the underdog because he's not a legit 175er.
The only way that Hopkins wins this fight is the stamina.
Hopkins fights far too cautiously to take the fight to Tarver...which is exactly what Hops needs to do. He needs to get back to his roots...when he was the Terror instead of the Ex & he needs to put it all on Tarver instead of being the tactician that he has become.
Don't get me wrong...I love tactical boxers...that's why it's called boxing...but there is a time & a place for everything & Hopkins needs to do what he has not done in the past 3-4 years...THROW CAUTION OUT THE GOTDAM WINDOW!
I love the Nard...but it's easy to see the problem.

Hopkins better just beat his ass & retire.

Hopkins better just beat his a** & retire.
B-HOP started his career as a lt hw....fought a couple at smw then finally reigned at 160 for over a decade.....he chose to do that....now he choses to move back up to lt hw..man does he look tight....B-HOP by KO....

The only way that Hopkins wins this fight is the stamina.Hopkins doesn't need to be a legit 175'er to beat Tarver, his boxing skills will take care of Tarver, trust me. B-Hop's will be able to move and get out of the way before tarver has a chance to answer. Tarver's only chance is against the ropes, that's it. If Hopkins can keep this fight in the center of the ring, tarver will not be able to handle hopkins footwork.

Hopkins does look good at Light heavyweight, he put on the weight right, and i'm sure that he will have lost none of his speed moving up. If Tarver becomes to overconfident and too argressive, and tires out, then Hopkins will go in for the kill. Hopkins is good at sensing when someone is fatigued. Just look at the first fight with Jermain Taylor.
Re: Tarver: Hopkins poll time...get those votes and opinions in!!!!
Tarver will take the fight to B-hop early and Hopkins will step up throwing big swinging shots and Antonio will catch him with a left hook ***Good Night***

Don't count on Hopkins to get reckless in the ring tonight, he is been too disciplined in his whole career to have that "Go for broke" mentality. He is ready for Tarver, with a 9-0 record agasint southpaws. Hopkins has everything to gain and nothing to lose.

Re: Tarver: Hopkins poll time...get those votes and opinions in!!!!
Tarver is going to run onto something and then he WILL RESPECT HOPKINS, JUS LIKE THE THUGS IN HIS NEIGHBOURHOOD, JUS LIKE THE RUGGED PRISONERS ALL THOSE YEARS AGO.
JUS WATCH, HOPKINS IS GONNA GO OUT LIKE A KING!!!!
Re: Tarver: Hopkins poll time...get those votes and opinions in!!!!
bernards gonna land his shots in a much more accurate manner than tarver!!!they r in different classes still as far work rate and accuracy

The only reason i wanted Tarver is so we could see him in with Calzaghe, but i have a strong feeling this fight will never be made there two strong headed guys who dont back down and i feel $$$$ will be the stumbling block, i really hope Nard wins he is a legend not Tarver and if Hopkins looks and feels comfortable tonight, why not he fight Calzaghe?? Maybe its 4 years to late but hey i still fell that would be a great fight!!
I hope and my prediction is Hopkins Ud!!!!! I cant remember if i have already posted Tarver win in the past few weeks, but i didnt realise Tarver had to come down from 215 from the Rocky film which could be suicidle!! We all rembember how RJJ preformed after coming down from a similar weight. :o
Re: Tarver: Hopkins poll time...get those votes and opinions in!!!!
Hopkins UD or late round Stoppage
Re: Tarver: Hopkins poll time...get those votes and opinions in!!!!
I feel ashamed for this... but I chose Tarver on points. I think it will be a slow fight in which Tarver will do just enough to win.
That being said, I'll be rooting for Hopkins all the way and I hope that I am way wrong on this prediction.
Re: Tarver: Hopkins poll time...get those votes and opinions in!!!!
AND NEW UNDISPUTED LHW CHAMPION BERNARD HOPKINS
B-HOP UD
