If your arms can handle it then it is fine. Wright spars with Lacy I'm sure his arms have felt power worse then Taylors.
Agreed...again.

Okay, its time for the Miles kiss of death :lightingzapA: ;D
Winky to win by decision

Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds...Taylor vs Wright.
I think Winky UD Taylor is too even paced and doesn't throw enough punches, Jermain needs to hurt wright early to win IMO and I think that is unlikely.

Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds...Taylor vs Wright.
There are some very knowledgeable boxing fans on this site.I'm proud to be apart of such an intelligent site.....I'm picking Winky for an easy victory ..J.T is just not crafty enough to give W.W problems...a basic 1-2 is just not enough.. Its also funny to me how most people think Winky has no power but can you recall any fight that he didn't ring his opponents bell at least once? AND NEW MIDDLE WEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD :'(

Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds...Taylor vs Wright.
Winky by UD but its close on the cards by a round or two on each card at the most. Factor the experience (Winky's wealth of it and Jermaine's lack), Winky's defense, and Winky has the better jab, Jermaine does a bow and arrow thing (though maybe Manny Steward will fix it). I think it gives Winky the edge.

That bow and arrow won't matter much imo because Winky doesn't throw to many lead hooks and he's a southpaw.

Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds...Taylor vs Wright.
Hmmm,I was watching Mosley Wright 2(round 5) and that was a big round for Shane,he got through the Wright guard a couple of times with uppercuts and hooking around the guard, was interesting.I like JT but have not seen alot of him, does he hook and uppercut alot of he jab,1,2 basics?

Why won't it matter? Winks jab could be as effective. And I think you're forgetting the opening on Taylor's body ;)

Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds...Taylor vs Wright.
Taylor will out power Winky
He is to big and to powerful...
-
Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds...Taylor vs Wright.
unless manny steward totally reconstructed jermain's left hook and added the uppercuts to his arsenal....he will be beaten easily if gets in there with that jab, jab, straight crap...

Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds...Taylor vs Wright.
What I dont understand is that everybody keeps saying that Winky has all of this experience and tactical skills that Taylor wont be able to deal with. But didnt Taylor just come out of two fights with B-hop? Is everybody trying to say that Winky is more experienced and tactical than Hopkins? I dont buy that argument. What I would buy is Winky's being a lefty and his style giving Taylor difficulties. But trying to say that all of Winky's experience and tactical skills will be to much IMO is not correct. I could be wrong but if Hopkins was unable to capitalize on all of Taylor's flaws then I dont think Winky will do leaps and bounds better. Will he be able to? probably on occasion. But not the entire fight.
I think that those two bouts with Hopkins count more than what a lot of people are giving him credit for.

I've thought the same thing... Taylor's got flack before for throwing looping punches but they will probably be more effective than the straight ones that Winky is so apt at blocking.

Absolutely not...but I have often that that Wright has what it takes to beat Hopkins.
With Wright...it all boils down to his chin, his jab, his defence, & his ability to be patient & super fwockin accurate while the opponent is throwing everything but the kitchen sink.
Also...Hopkins did capitalize on Taylor's flaws. Watch the 8th through 12th of the first fight.

Again...I agree...yes...he get's credit for hanging with Hopkins...through & through...but I just refuse to recognize the first fight as a win for Taylor.
The second match yes...but not the first.

Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds...Taylor vs Wright.

Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds...Taylor vs Wright.
Winky by UD but not easy win, going to be great fight, cant wait for this one :)
-
Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds...Taylor vs Wright.
Winky by UD. Taylor will probably be a stiffer test than Winky's had in awhile, but I think he has the skills, the will, and the poise to pull this one off.
Unless HBO pulls its magic again.....are the judges in their fights on the HBO payroll, or what?

Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds...Taylor vs Wright.
i think taylor is going to win. i want winky to win though. hope he does

Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds...Taylor vs Wright.
I just might go for a Taylor win in this fight....
Taylor has an excellent jab, but so does the Winkster. Taylor's athletic but Winky has the best defense in the game. Taylor tires, while Winky keeps disciplined. Taylor's sloppy technically while Winky is precise.
Taylor's bigger, that's the only thing I see going for him, his strength. His jab may be able to penetrate Winky's pillar defense. Although Taylor, if I remember correctly, does have problems with southpaws. Wasn't Raul Marquez a southpaw? Taylor looked horrible in that fight even though he won.
This could be Winky's biggest test IMO. Trinidad doesn't have heart at this point and was exposed by Winky, also Shane's a little man who was a shell of his former self after the Forrest Dissaster.
I think Taylor wants to prove something in this fight. IMO he's the hungrier fighter coming in, because he feels he didn't perform well in both Hopkins fights.
Also Winky's defense works better against smaller men who load up on punches. Taylor loads up, that's a bad thing, he's going to have to think volume and use his youthful body to his advantage if he wants to defeat the Winky Defense.

:coolclick: Good arguements.
I still think that Winky just going to walk him down & take the fight to Taylor & Taylor aint gonna dig on that. Taylor's most effective when backing his opponent up...Wright don't really back up.

Good post but I want to focus on one tiny thing you said. Taylor tires. Imo this fight is pretty close going into the championship rounds, with Winky winning by no more then a couple rounds but...I think Winky wins because he could fight 20 rounds if he had to.

Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds...Taylor vs Wright.
Okay...,no one said Winky by knockout...,so I do... ;)
I've seen Winky only against Shane Mosley(both fights) and Sam Soliman, but if it's true, what the
(I think it was HBO) commentator said, Winky does have a big punch, but he doesn't put everything
behind it...
Of Jermain Taylor I've only seen his performances against Hopkins,so I can't say much about
his chin...
Would be great if Winky actually does it, but I wouldn't bet money on it... ;D

But you don't think, that Taylor will be knocked out by Winky,do you...?!?
How is Taylors chin...?

How is Taylors chin...?
No. Not by any means...I don't really think that Taylor's chin is in question...but it can be hit by a good counter puncher & Wright is one of the better. Taylor took some hard rights from Hopkins & he didn't fair to well from them...but he stayed on his feet...& that's enough.
I think that it's admireable that Taylor is taking on the best & the better with each fight...but Wright is just as accurate as Hopkins is.
This will be the tuffest test of Taylor's career.
