Re: Shannon Briggs will save boxing !
It's as simple as this...
We do need someone like Shannon to save boxing, but will Shannon do what he needs to in order to do the saving?!?!
Now, he looks like the middle aged dad on the Incredibles! He is relying on his power to KO opponents, and you even hear him say after the fights that he needs to do more roadwork, needs to eat less...
Sh**... if you knew that five fights ago, then why are you still saying it?!?!?
This will be the major factor to Shannon's ascent or descent from here forward.
And I agree with the other comment... He should fight the boxers he lost to!!! (if they're still active)
Great thread!!!

there is SERIOUS talent all across the weight divisions.
plus......we get to see floyd mayweather in his prime, hopefully he NEVER goes past 154 (if he stays at 147 for the remainder of his career, i believe he goes out as an all time great)
hes that good 8)
Good point. Totally agree.
Boxing is tearing it up in the lower weight classes. The main thing that I see wrong with the heavyweight division is that there is less discipline as far as the weight goes...every fat hill billie wants to be a heavyweight boxer & then every footballer that ruined his knees thinks that he can win a title.
I think its like that because of the lack of boxing ability in the heavyweight division. Outside of Wlad, Serguei Lyakhovich, and JFat there really isnt anybody with good boxing ability. It just seems like everytime I see some heavies go at it they are just trying to KO each other with one punch. Nobody really works the body and puts good combos together anymore. That is what I feel like is wrong with the heavies.
Agreed brother !
Hey did you see last nights fight Chaz Witherspoon and Alexander ? That was a very good action packed fight, very high work rate from both fighters, high determination factor from both guys, They both have a good future , no clinching to speak of over 10 rounds. that’s a strong outing for Heavyweights. I like the weights also. 6"4 232 for Witherspoon .. Now That’s what I am talking about ! the other guy Alexander was like 208lbs. Holyfield type determination, not the skill. but promising none the less.
I would love to see weight limits put on Heavyweights . In the contracts if nothing else ! Because when fighters come in correct, you get a great show, and I think boxing fans deserve that !
