And for power v. power

Collazo 26 wins - 12 KOs = 46.1% KO rate
Gatti 40 wins - 31 KOs = 77.5% KO rate
Hatton 41 wins - 30 KOs = 73.1% KO rate

Gatti of course lost to de la Hoya, but in his other 2 WW bouts, he won by TKO 10th round and TKO 2nd round

Collazo is NOT a power puncher, he is a boxer........

That ratio thing is impressive but has no relevance,Collazo is naturally bigger and stronger,Gatti had more ko's at lower weight classes.

The ratio thing is relavent, mostly for the following reason.....................
It shows that Collazo focuses on setting up combo's for point victories, as opposed to Gatti who is more focused on power shots, I will say it again, I think Hatton would win, but I also think Gatti would hurt Hatton more than Collazo...
I can honestly say at any rate this is one of the top 5 fights I'd like to see I think both fighters would get their chins tested to the fullest!! and a :coolclick: because I am enjoying this debate

By saying Gatti would hurt Ricky more,you are basically saying he would knock him down because in round 12,when Ricky was out on his feet,that was the only thing that did not happen and in my humble opinion,I don't think Gatti can hurt Hatton. You make a valid point BUT again,I must reiterate that,that there is a big big difference between a natural WW and a blown up one and we will see that when Gatti fights the rugged Baldomir. Hatton acknowledged this too after his fight with Collazo.

Yes, I do think Gatti would knock Hatton down, not out, but down. I still think Ricky being a more agressive fighter would point win overall. If Gatti went in with the same game plan he did against Mayweather (going for the chest and shoulders) I believe that would be a strategem that would give Ricky a lot of problems, utilize Gatti's reach advantage and ultimately make it incredibly difficult for Hatton to get inside where he is the most effective.

And as far as the power thing it's too bad we don't have that testing machine the Drago was using in Rocky lol

That's the thing though,Mcgirt is trying to turn a guy who has always been a slugger and who#s best defence is his chin into a boxer and I don't think it would work,certainly not against Hatton! Why do you think going for Hatton's shoulders etc would be effective?

because IF, Gatti could use those jabs to Hatton's chest and shoulders, it would bring back the relevancy of Gatti's reach advantage. granted that is a big IF and his ability to do that would IMO determine the outcome of the fight. All of this said, I still think Hatton eventually gets inside and cleans house.

Please note that Hatton and Mickey Ward have similar styles its just that Hatton bullies in with his head and holds more.

I agree with everything you just said, except I believe the ratio I showed earlier leads me to believe they are equal in power and Hatton's speed is greatly diminished at 147.

I wouldn't mind seeing Hatton face Baldomir either, but that's a differetn story for a different thread.

You think Hatton hits harder then Gatti? And has better defense?

That would be too good of a fight for me to predict!! I would just have to watch it and see what happens! It's hard to think of a more exciting match up!

(Cotto-Hatton is more exciting)

Hatton would pressure Gatti into a battle. Arturo might not have enough left in him to hang with Ricky but Ricky's power has DEFINANTLY come into question since the Collazo fight, the good news is perhaps the body will be open more because Gatti won't expect the punches to hurt that much...also Arturo cuts so that too could draw the defense away from the body.

I see this battle going the distance as tough as that might be to comprehend

Hatton would be too much for Gatti imo as he is younger and with better stamina now. Hatton 9th round stoppage.

9th is being a little generous, but sounds about right to me
