Re: Hatton-Urango has been signed:predictions??
CC back SHZA bro,it's cool and trust me Maracho is his own man and I am my own!! I'm not some sad loser who would do somthing like that man! I dont even knbow how the heck that would work,I mean how would I be online at the same time as him? ??? I asked because I genuinely did not understand that Ring stuff but 1 more things, like I said, say 4 different fighters each hold a belt, which does the ring decide is the true belt? Who would be the man in this senario? I don't mean to sound like an ass either but you know what you are talking ahout and I want to learn!

Hey, I believe you on the maracho thing--no need to convince me any further. I don't doubt your word, you've always been totally civil even when we disagree, and I'm sorry I even threw that out there.
What I meant when I said the alphabet titles are irrelevant to the Ring ratings/linear championship was just that, ok, in your scenario--which is kind of like what we have at MW right now, right?, it doesn't matter that Abraham has the IBF title, Catillejo has the WBA title and Taylor has the other two. Even if Taylor didn't have any alphabet title at all, he'd still be the champ, because he beat Hopkins (controverially, sure, but officially it counts), and hasn't lost or left the division since. The fact that he doesn't have the IBF or WBA titles just illustrates how messed up the alphabet systems are--he had those titles and no one beat him for them. They were taken from him because he chose to take the fights that the fans wanted against the toughest guys out there--a rematch against B-Hop (contractually required, too) and a fight against Winky. Everyone was happier to see those fights than see JT duck those opponents to fight bs mandatories--everyone except the IBF or WBA apparently.

Riiiiiight,ok,now I understand but if you follow this, does it mean that you don't think Floyd is a 4 weight world champ because technically speaking(sorry if I'm making a mistake here)but Tszyu was the man,Hatton beat him,Hatton was the man,Gatti had alphabet soup which to Ring has no relevence. Just curious to see where you stand on that.....

In a word, yes. I don't consider Floyd a 4 weight world champ. A 4 weight beltholder, maybe, but not a 4 weight true linear champ. He's currently a 1-weight linear champ (at LW), and if he beats Baldomir that'll be the second.
Re: Hatton-Urango has been signed:predictions??
Cool,I like this Ring thing,I prefer the 1 belt,it means if someone wants a title, there would be no ducking etc! Thanks again brother!
Re: Hatton-Urango has been signed:predictions??
Shza, We boxing fans are not as dence as you think and I should point out that me and galxy were having a farely civil dispute when you jumped in and to use your own term became provocative. Just look back and observe how you regressed to name calling. If you cant take it dont start it as fighters always say.
Am I argumentative here? yes, but at least I have a good reason fot it. However I do agree and have always said that one belt or unification is the priority

agreed....this fight could possibly be the worst matchup of a so-called champion ever.....even Joe Louis fought better opposition....

Man you sure tried to slither out of that one but I will give you the benefit of the doubt. However your and your ring magazine rankings are fraudulent because although Hatton is up there at the top he has not come even a little bit close to being as successful at junior welter as Castillo. cotto should be ranked higher than Hatton as well.
This is just more favoritism and manipulation and
once again you are part of the problem!
Hmmm . . . this doesn't look like an especially "civil" response--and this is where I "jumped in" (it is a board, after all, not a private 2 person conversation). Whatever though--we've all made our points, albeit some more civilly than others.

Ricky Hatton looks certain to go back to square one and challenge Juan Urango for the IBF light-welterweight title later in the year.
The belt is the same one the 'Hit Man' originally claimed when he beat Kostya Tszyu in Manchester last year.
But, with his welterweight flirtation seemingly over, Hatton's representatives are confident that an announcement regarding a match-up with Urango will be made in the next week.
"We are finalising negotiations at the moment and it is not far away. Certainly moving back down to 140lbs for a fight with Urango is our preferred route," Hatton's promoter Dennis Hobson said.
Hatton's challenge looks set to take place in Atlanta on the weekend of December 9.
But the chance will come at a price: Hatton will have to vacate the WBA welterweight crown he won after a points victory against Luis Collazo three months ago.
After the Collazo win, both Hatton and trainer Billy Graham hinted that the former's future may lie in the lighter division after all.
If Hatton were to insist on holding on to his WBA belt then he would have to face mandatory contender Oktay Urkal, an overdue - yet perhaps unattractive - proposition.
And, even though Floyd Mayweather is about to challenge WBC welterweight champion Carlos Baldomir, Hatton appears to have decided that the more appealing contests lie at light-welterweight.
Lightweight names Diego Corrales and Jose Luis Castillo have both hinted they may move up to the heavier division.
And, assuming he wins the WBC title next month, Junior Witter could also become a possibility for Hatton.
"There are a number of fights to whet your appetite at 140lbs and I would certainly not discount a domestic fight with Junior Witter if he wins in style," Hobson continued.
"Ricky is still the main man at light-welterweight whether he has got a title or not. If he beats Urango and gets his title back there is any number of mouth-watering fights to be made."
Castillo is the fight he should be looking for after this pointless bout with Urango. I think a victory over Corralles would mean nothing considering what Mayweather did to him... I don't think Hatton Vs Mayweather will ever happen now, which is probably a good tihng for ricky.

Shza I am getting the feeling your just a spoiled little brat who probably still lives with his mommy. You are constantly refering to me and others who disagree with you as ladies or saying crap like "your boyfriend Margarito" but as soon as someone gets a tad bit uncivil with you, you start crying how annoying it is. Show respect and maybe you will get it in return.
Re: Hatton-Urango has been signed:predictions??
A big cc to Shza for carrying the Ring fight for me & another to El Phenomena in 24hrs for being willing to learn something that is trying to improve the sport we love. Basically you can't lose your championship unles your beaten in the ring or relinquish it if you move up. You can choose to defend your title & fight in another division, which is what Jones Jr did. He was still recognised as light-heavyweight champion when he moved up to fight Ruiz, but with his victory there he got ranked at heavyweight & was still light-heavyweight champion. This system gives fighters the opportunity to hold titles at different weights as long as they are willing to defend them. When Winky moved up he informed the Ring that he was relinquishing his championship because he wanted to concentrate on middleweight, & give other fighters the opportunity the win the championship.
In the case where a championship is vacant a fight between the #1 & #2 ranked fighters will qualify as a championship decider. Somethimes a fight between #1 & #3 will also qualify. e.g. at heavyweight at the moment Wlad is #1 & if he fights Maskaev #2 in will be for the championship. But if Wlad #1 fights Toney #3 it may also qualify as Toney had drawn with Rahman who was #2.
The alphabet belts are completely irrelevant & are treated as if they don't even exist which is how it should be.
Re: Hatton-Urango has been signed:predictions??
Thanks Galaxy,CC back bro.
Re: Hatton-Urango has been signed:predictions??
Most of you on here don't know me but I used to come on here and post all the time a few years back.
Ricky used to get slated all the time on here and I used to defend him.
when he beat kostya tszyu for the title I thought things would change. I thought hatton would fight
Cotto
Harris
Gatti
Judah
Floyd
And then pretty much call it a career, and hang up the gloves.
I don't think there are any excuses anymore for him fighting substandard opposition especially when he is a top draw and the american fans like watching him.
I for one am very dissappointed.
Re: Hatton-Urango has been signed:predictions??
i think every hatton fan is dissapointed with the oppasition but as a fan im behind my man 110 %ricks flirtation with 147 wasnt great so 140 is the place 2 go (were he is apart from a miricle is unbeatable).as for urango 6 rounds max before the relentless hatton onslaught will take its toll. HATTON TKO IN 6............PEACE........
Re: Hatton-Urango has been signed:predictions??
OH WELL BRING HIM ON ANOTHER EASY NIGHTS WORK FOR HATTON COZ PBF KEEPS ON RUNNIN :-*
Re: Hatton-Urango has been signed:predictions??
I think Hatton can still move back up to 147 & perform well! Everybody has tough fights. Remember Joe Louis got KO'd & come back to dominate. Hatton got caught in that fight with Collazo & that's all. That's why I wish he'd fight the rematch & dominate Collazo to show his mettle. All the greats have loses but it's how they come back that matters. Let Hatton deal with Urango then go up against Castillo, then he may be ready to move up again.

Some would lead us to believe that this magazine and their phylosophy is the golden rule of boxing but I dont think most fans hold this view. This ranking system is no more than opinions and hardly recognized by the press. Although I am sure their philosophy is better than the current one with all its problematic sanctioning bodies it is still actually just a boxing news magazine attempting to make its own news and maybe boost some sales.
the ring has been involved with several scandals http://www.eastsideboxing.com/news/pierce0708.php
http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/...d.php?p=620632
The Ring also has tight associations with don King and at one time fighters had to be ranked by The Ring in order to be on the ABC heavyweight series promoted by Don King, but The Ring's rankings were less than honest. http://www.reviewjournal.com/lvrj_ho...s/5710767.html
Although many of their writers are very good some are over the edge such as a guy named Jeff Ryan who in the 2005 ring magazine year book P.110 writes a whole article on why George Forman who he repeatedly refers to as incapable, a buffoon, bone headed, etc…. should be fired from HBO and then brags about writing a letter to HBO Executive producer Ross Greenburg asking for George's removal from the show. How arrogant can a magazine be to publish this crap? On the other hand the Rings Jeff Ryan goes on and on about how valiant and intelligent Larry Merchant and Jim Lampley are and what a shame it must have been for them to work with big Jim
Oscar likes them though http://www.doghouseboxing.com/duran/coyote_080206.htm
