However, apologies if i missed it but where is Marvellous Marvin!
It took gritted teeth to admit SRL deserved to be #1...
We all know why he is #1
Adapted to beat a near prime Duran
Showed amazing ability to beat the underrated Kalule at a heavier weight (154lbs)
Beat a near prime Hitman, having to comeback from the verge of defeat to win it in the 'Championship' rounds
Came back to 'beat' Hagler when he had only had one poor fight in five years.
And although he did not win that fight IMO, there is no doubt it was amazing performance just to see him last 12 rounds. No one thought for one second Marvin agreeing to a 12 rather than 15 round fight would make any difference when the contract was written. Hagler was expected to win easily and quickly...
Showed a great brain by managing to win a 175lbs title at 168lbs (VS Donny Lalonde)
And sucked it up in Hearns rematch to give Tommy one hell of a battle, and help make the fight a fine rematch to a classic original.
Now I feel all dirty, think I need to see Leonard/Camacho again ;D
As for Marvin, I did state that I only rated fighters who turned pro in 1976 or later; Marvin of course, turned pro in 1973.

Of course ;D
I missed that to. The Minter bout was in '80, so I figured he had turned pro by 76. Wow he really did have a long journey. I guess now I have more of an understanding on why the other champions were kind of just waiting for Hagler to go away. He was a 10 year vet by the time he fought Duran. Something I didn't know. I always saw the fight as a young Hagler with a lot of fights versus an aging and past his best Duran. CC BK.
I think the most talented fighter of the last 30 years was Whitaker. I think the greatest is probaby Leonard or Hearns, based off of accomplishments. It's really just splitting hairs. I could make arguments for and against a lot of those people so I don't even know.
